THE ROLE

STRIVE Recruitment is partnering with a global and highly respected investment and real estate organization to recruit an Assistant Controller for their finance team based in Vancouver, BC. This is an exciting opportunity for a technically strong accounting professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced, international environment with exposure to complex corporate structures, cross-border reporting, and senior stakeholder interaction.

The Assistant Controller will play a key role in supporting the financial reporting and operational accounting activities for a portfolio of entities. Working closely with senior finance leadership, the successful candidate will assist with month-end and quarter-end reporting, oversight of international accounting processes, audit coordination, process improvements, and mentoring junior accounting staff.

This role is ideal for someone coming from public practice or industry with strong technical accounting knowledge, experience working in multi-entity environments, and a desire to grow within a collaborative and globally connected finance team.

Responsibilities

Prepare, review, and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting packages for assigned entities. Assist in month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entry review, account reconciliations, accruals, intercompany accounting, transfer pricing, variance investigations, distributions, and supporting schedules. Support consolidated reporting requirements for U.S. operations and maintain oversight of multiple legal entities. Complete financial reporting submissions for the parent organization, including coordination of general ledger integrations, segmented reporting requirements, and ad hoc information requests. Work collaboratively with internal departments and external partners to ensure reporting accuracy and compliance with established deadlines. Support the preparation of subsidiary financial statements and coordinate annual audit requirements with external auditors. Contribute to cash management activities and provide support during budgeting and forecasting cycles. Evaluate and strengthen accounting procedures, internal controls, and financial reporting processes. Participate in systems upgrades, automation projects, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

(CPA) Designation required. At least five years of progressive corporate accounting experience, ideally within a multinational organization. Minimum two years of people leadership or supervisory experience. Prior experience in public accounting is considered an advantage. Exposure to real estate operations or investment fund accounting is beneficial but not mandatory. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy. Advanced technical accounting knowledge, particularly in consolidations involving varying ownership structures and foreign currency translation. Solid understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
