What is the opportunity?
As a Vice President or Associate within the European Institutional Client Credit Management Team, you will be part of a team of professionals managing a trading credit portfolio and facilitating transactions originated by the various trading businesses in Global Markets. The role will primarily support RBCCM's Risk Solutions Group (RSG) in the origination, onboarding, maintenance, and management of credit transactions and the relationships with large sponsor clients, including but not limited to Private Equity and Private Capital Sponsor funds.
You will be partnering with various trading businesses in Global Markets to (i) identify and recommend suitable trading counterparties, (ii) facilitate the credit process, including evaluating and screening requests, preparing transaction requests and risk assessments, (iii) co-ordinate the trading documentation process, including structuring appropriate credit mitigation and (iv) optimise revenues.
What will you do?
- Primarily support RBCCM's Risk Solutions Group (RSG) in the origination, onboarding, maintenance, and management of the credit relationship with large sponsor clients, including Private Equity and Private Capital Sponsor funds.
- Engage with clients to conduct comprehensive fund due diligence, including collecting and reviewing relevant fund documents such as Private Placement Memoranda (PPMs), Limited Partnership Agreements (LPAs), Management Agreements, structure charts, and financials to support the credit evaluation process.
- Collaborate with Fund Finance and RSG to support comprehensive sponsor relationships by facilitating non-lending revenue opportunities for funds that have existing lending relationships with RBC.
- Work with Group Risk Management in the risk assessment of alternative investment funds and support credit onboarding through analysis of fund documentation and client information.
- Focus on credit structuring for sponsor funds in support of Global Markets trading relationships, including risk limits, regulatory, legal, compliance, tax, and operational matters.
- Actively collaborate with Group Risk Management and the Trading Documentation Team in the document negotiation process by proposing ISDA credit terms (ATEs) and other credit provisions to ensure proper trading documents are established.
- Prepare credit requests and trading line requests with related documentation required as part of Risk Management approval process and submit to relevant Business Heads for support.
- Create call memos for credit Due Diligence meetings.
- Work with and advise product partners on the optimal amount of trading credit required to meet our strategic objectives with each client relationship.
- Work with internal stakeholders to address all counterparty credit concerns that may arise from the portfolio.
- Occasionally support maintenance of accurate counterparty compliance reports and provide ad hoc reporting on utilization, fund performance, Due Diligence meetings, etc.
- Understand and apply securities regulations governing Private Equity, Private Capital Sponsor funds, hedge funds and other institutional counterparties.
- Coach and guide junior professionals to ensure that employees understand RBC vision and support targeted behaviors that contribute to RBC goals and employee career development.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have:
- Graduate Degree with focus in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics or other quantitative fields or similar.
- Robust Credit experience working within the financial institutions.
- Strong Credit skills and specific knowledge of trading credit.
- Superior communication skills (verbal and written) are essential.
- Understanding and knowledge of fund industry and securities regulations governing funds.
- Strong understanding of RBC trading products including FX, swaps and securities finance.
- Understanding of trading documentation.
- Ability to establish priorities and manage tasks with accompanying attention to detail.
- Strong analytic, problem solving and decision-making skills required.
Nice-to-have
- A CFA and/or MBA or similar.
- Knowledgeable of the RBC global network and capabilities and understanding of and ability to interpret RBC credit processes, standing orders and credit policies.
- Experience with and knowledge of the analytical approaches to credit risk assessment.
