Job Description This is an opportunity to join a well-established Wealth adviser office and a dynamic team. The Paraplanner is a specialist role primarily responsible for producing the financial plan to meet the client’s needs. The Paraplanner should hold a proper authority from the licensee to provide financial advice and must operate within the compliance regulations; needs expertise in investment products and strategies, regulations, and tax implications. In addition, a thorough knowledge of investment product features and benefits for comparative purposes. Research on changes to products, services and strategy options should be regularly undertaken. The successful candidate will also be responsible for administration of investment business, interacting with clients (including attending face-to-face client meetings) by managing relationships and providing client services. You will ensure new business implementation and maintenance of unit trust and share portfolios of clients. The role needs excellent client relationship management and office administrative skills.

Responsibilities: Providing effective client service and administrative assistance to clients and the adviser team

  • Gather policy and investment information.
  • Prepare and implement investment proposals.
  • Handle new application and quotations.
  • Handle and solve client enquiries (all existing business enquiries).
  • Rebalance and maintain existing portfolios (switches, rebalances, withdrawals and investment allocations).
  • Build and maintain good working relationships.
  • Maintain Service Level agreement deadlines.
  • Maintain CRM system.
  • Ensure FICA and FAIS Compliance.

Produce financial plan

  • Gather policy and investment information and compile a summary of the information.
  • Research product information.
  • Formulate effective financial plan documents, in-line with the strategy as outlined by the office, and the client’s needs, objectives and risk tolerance. All documents must meet compliance requirements and the relevant legislation, and comply with the company standard documents, policies and procedures.
  • Ensure all research and technical information used by the office in providing advice is up to date and accurate.
  • Prepare statement of advice documentation as required.

Investment reviews

  • Prepare client portfolio review reports in conjunction with changes in client circumstances and investments and general market movement. Ensure report is accurate and that office’s investment strategy is meeting client’s objectives. Ensure client is kept well informed and that all necessary actions are recommended and where necessary undertaken.
  • Prepare statement of advice documentation if required.

Minimum requirements:

  • NQF5 Wealth Management qualification compulsory
  • Relevant degree/CFP and/or Postgraduate Diploma in Financial Planning (advantageous)
  • RE5 (Representative Regulatory Exam) compulsory
  • At least 5+ years relevant work experience within the financial/Insurance industry in a similar role
  • Proficient in both spoken and written English, and at least one other of the official South African languages
