What is the opportunity?
RBC Global Asset Management (RBC GAM) is the asset management division of Royal Bank of Canada (RBC). RBC GAM is a provider of global investment management services and solutions to individual, high-net-worth, and institutional investors through mutual funds, exchange-traded funds, hedge funds, pooled funds, separate accounts, and specialty investment strategies.
The opportunity is a key role within Global Asset Management Finance who will lead the planning, forecasting, analysis, driver-based reporting. This position also serves as the Finance lead for North American Institutional and Global Investment Management by working closely with Finance partners in multiple geographical locations. The purpose of the role is to provide business leaders value-add advice and actionable financial information to enhance performance and create shareholder value.
What you will do?
- Lead a team of professionals to provide value-add advice and guidance on financial related matters to business executives for day-to-day management, business and strategic planning.
- Work collaboratively with business units and other finance partners in the financial forecasting, budgeting process, ensuring that financial reporting, forecasting and planning and related information for GAM US, North American Institutional, and Global Investment Management is reported accurately and timely.
- Responsible for supporting internal and external audit processes as required.
- Provide business specific advice and analysis, track detailed performance metrics and product/business profitability
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes, increase staff efficiency and automate processes
- Gets involved with various projects as required and supports and prepares ad-hoc analysis for business units as requested
Must-have
- Chartered Professional Accountant designation.
- 5+ years of corporate finance or accounting experience in a senior role within a financial institution
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a strong client service orientation - willingness to take all issues through to a successful resolution
- Strong people management skills
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and concisely summarize complex issues
- Experience in dealing with senior executives and advising on financial/strategic matters.
Nice-to-have
- Exposure to Global Asset Management products and businesses
- Knowledge of US GAAP
- Knowledge or experience of Asset Management industry a plus
- Knowledge of RBC legal entity/management structure an asset
