About the role
Please Note: Previous airport experience is preferred. Summary This position is responsible for ensuring our flights operate on time and according to plan. From confirming the aircraft’s weight and balance is accurately calculated to coordinating ramp and maintenance operations, the role is varied and fast-paced but ultimately rewarding.
Core Competencies
- Previous airline experience in flight following, dispatch and/or operations
- Thorough understanding of Aviation weather, forecast and observations, METAR and TAF
- Ability to work efficiently under demanding time constraints
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Analytical skills and proactive problem solver
Job Duties
- Actively participate in SA’s Safety Management System (SMS) including reporting hazard and incidents encountered in daily operations. Understand, comply with and promote the company Safety Policy
- Participate in training to comprehend, implement, and maintain all quality objectives as stated in our Quality Management System to ensure delivery of desired levels of operational safety and security.
- All employees are responsible for ensuring quality control in their own activities.
- Cooperate fully with Inspectors to achieve quality inspection commitments
- Performs other duties as required
- Required to maintain a valid Restricted Area Identification Card (RAIC), a valid driver’s license, and a valid Restricted Operator’s Certificate – Aeronautical (ROC-A)
- Previous airline flight operations and dispatch experience considered an asset
- Knowledge of US APIS and Canadian API or other related functions as applied to trans-border flight operations would be an asset.
- Weight and Balance calculations
- Must be deicing qualified for customer and conduct monthly audits on the deicing vendor and inspect their work.
- Liaise between all groups, with all communications going through this position including (but not limited to):
- Airport Authority
- Fueling
- Catering
- Ground handling
- IROPS
- Take all SA operational phone calls
- Clear time card exceptions
- Create and update daily flight plot schedules
Requirements
- Excellent computer skills, proficient with Word, Excel, Outlook and Internet
- Ability to work well independently under minimal supervision
- Strong working knowledge of weather and how it impacts aviation, as well as NOTAMs as outlined by NAV Canada and the FAA
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, make decisions and problem solve
