The Environmental Protection Branch within the Saskatchewan Ministry of Environment is seeking a self-motivated individual to assist in coordinating Freedom of Information requests and manage a range of branch activities, including Financial Assurances and records management.
Reporting to the Senior Information and Records Management Consultant, this position will be located in Saskatoon and will be responsible for coordinating Environmental Protection Branch responses for requests to information under the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIPPA). The successful candidate will be responsible for managing access requests and records for mining, industrial, and commercial operations and impacted sites. In addition to maintaining oversight for the Branch’s paper and electronic file management systems, you will provide written and verbal analysis, advice and recommendations for the Executive Director and Ministry Executive and liaise with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.
As the successful candidate, you will have knowledge of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act and processes surrounding responding to information requests. Knowledge of office and administration procedures, protocols, equipment and records management is required. You will also have knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets and database software. Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work independently are required.
Typically, the knowledge and skills required for this position would be obtained through a certificate or diploma in office or business education combined with 2 years of direct experience with handling and processing Freedom of Information & Protection of Privacy Act requests in an office environment or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
