The Opportunity
Under the direction and leadership of the Superintendent, Pipeline Operations we are seeking a full-time permanent Pipeline Operator to join our Pipeline Operations department in Chetwynd, British Columbia. This position is responsible for the safe, efficient daily operation of the pipeline gathering system.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise producer tie-in to the pipeline system
Provide on call support for the Pipeline Operations department and after hours call for the area
Handle pipeline locate requests from BC Once Call system
Gather monthly and semi-annual gas samples
Provide pipeline support to the Prince George Refinery
Assist with the selection of contractors and monitor them in ensuring they follow Tidewaters policies and procedures
Understand, schedule, implement, monitor and report on requirements outlined in the Pipeline Integrity Manual (PIM)
Prepare, recommend and implement site specific maintenance tasks and procedures for all instrument equipment with the Western Pipeline LP
Ensure all equipment records are kept current, part inventories and replacements are maintained
Maintain SCADA, radio communications equipment and install / calibrate measurement equipment
Support field work for integrity dig program
Third party ground disturbance supervision
Managing Pigging requirements for the areas
Ideal Candidate
Qualifications:
Five to ten years as an Operator for a pipeline gathering system facility or related industry experience
Preference for Instrumentation Technician or Technologist with pipeline operations experience and or other industry related courses
Journeyman Millwright certificate would be an asset
Excellent operational problem solving is an asset.
Good communication skills and ability to work in a team along with mature judgement and responsible work habits
Enthusiasm and commitment to the job
Must be able to work alone with minimum supervision after training
Must be prepared to work in all types of weather
Excellent follow-through skills
Class 5 driver’s license
4th class would be an asset but not mandatory
Competencies & Attributes:
Organizational, communication and interpersonal skills are essential
Exudes a high level of positive energy and is self-motivated, can work independently with minimal supervision and is a good team player
Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing
Ability to work in a team environment
Ability and willingness to work rotating on-call shifts, weekends, holidays and overtime
Has a very high regard for safety in the workplace, and has a strong commitment to operational policies and procedures
Is willing to work in all weather conditions - extreme summer heat and cold winter weather
Able to complete the physical aspects of job, heavy lifting, climbing stairs, crawling under rail cars etc.
Must pass all required courses, inclusive of H2S, First Aid Training
