Scope
The Recreation Facility Maintenance Worker 4 is experienced in refrigeration and can lead a diverse team in operating, developing and maintaining the City's six arenas.
The position coordinates implementations of Technical Safety BC regulations, including risk assessments for all facilities, prepares reports and documentation related to this and maintains accurate maintenance records. The role also includes planning capital projects, maintenance budgets, preventative maintenance planning, purchasing large equipment, working with other facility staff on event coordination, and leading safety initiatives.
Successful candidates should be highly knowledgeable about arena procedures and practices, Sound knowledge of common building systems like HVAC, lighting and heating, and knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, electrical and glass installations. Strong organizations skills and articulate, both verbally and in written formats.
Responsibilities
- Operation of refrigeration and ice-making equipment and machinery.
- Recruit, train, supervise & evaluates the work of subordinate staff including RFMW 3, RFMW 2, Building Service Worker, and Building cleaner in a recreation facility; provides orientation and training.
- Ensure safe operation of recreation facilities; develops and implements safety procedures and documents same; leads safety initiatives.
- Acquires equipment, materials, services and supplies as required.
- Develops and implements preventative maintenance plans for recreation facilities; evaluates plans and makes changes. Oversees and makes recommendations for mechanical operation plans in recreation facilities.
- Coordinates implementation of Technical Safety BC recommendations, regulations, and initiatives.
- Prepares reports and documentation related to the work; maintains records.
- Assists in planning capital projects related to recreation facilities; provides input into budgeting. Assists in coordinating special events related to the work.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Qualifications
- Completion of Grade 12 supplemented
- A minimum of five years' experience working with refrigeration systems and supervising staff.
- Power Engineer Class 5 (Refrigeration) certificate.
- A valid BC Driver's license
- Ability to successfully complete a Police Information Check/Vulnerable Sector Check
