Sailun Tire Americas – Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP)
Position Reporting To – Director, Human Resources
Summary/Objective
Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, the Human Resource Business Partner (HRBP) partners with leaders and employees across office-based, warehouse-based, and remote teams in Canada and the United States to align people strategies with business objectives. Acting as a trusted advisor, the HRBP supports the full employee lifecycle while ensuring consistent, compliant, and effective HR and payroll practices across diverse work environments.
Essential Functions
Business Partnership & Advisory Support
Serve as a trusted HR advisor to leaders supporting office, warehouse, and remote employees. Coach people leaders on performance management, employee engagement, leadership effectiveness, and change management. Support workforce planning and organizational initiatives aligned with business needs and evolving workforce models. Ensure consistent application of HR and payroll-related policies across all work environments.
Talent Acquisition, Onboarding & Workforce Planning
Partner with hiring managers to define role requirements and competencies for office, warehouse, and remote roles. Support talent acquisition processes, including interviews and selection, in collaboration with various departments and people leaders. Support structured onboarding and orientation programs, including payroll and timekeeping setup for new hires. Contribute to succession and workforce planning discussions for critical roles.
Employee Relations & Performance Management
Provide guidance on employee relations matters, including performance concerns, investigations, workplace conflict, and policy interpretation. Coach leaders on progressive discipline, documentation, and fair, consistent people decisions. Support workplace accommodation requests and return-to-work planning in collaboration with people leaders. Conduct exit interviews and support offboarding processes, including final pay coordination.
Payroll, Timekeeping & HRIS Support
Act as the primary HR liaison for payroll and timekeeping matters across Canada and the USA. Ensure accurate collection, review, and approval of timecards, overtime, shift premiums, PTO, statutory holidays, and local leave entitlements. Review payroll inputs for accuracy, including new hires, terminations, rate changes, bonuses, and retroactive adjustments, prior to processing. Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies, including missing pay, incorrect deductions, and overtime disputes. Support HRIS (e.g., ADP) data integrity, employee changes, and payroll-related reporting. Educate leaders and employees on payroll processes, timekeeping policies, and compliance requirements. Provide payroll reporting and filing as required both monthly and annually. Participate in auditing with 3rd party as required.
Compensation, Benefits & Total Rewards
Support compensation programs, including salary reviews, job changes, and internal equity considerations. Assist employees with benefits inquiries, eligibility, enrollment, and life-event changes across Canadian and U.S. benefit programs. Support total rewards, recognition, and engagement initiatives.
HR Compliance – Canada & USA
Ensure compliance with Canadian provincial employment standards and U.S. federal and state employment laws. Support proper onboarding documentation, including I-9 compliance for U.S.-based employees and employment file requirements in Canada. Monitor legislative changes impacting payroll, timekeeping, leaves, and employment practices across office, warehouse, and remote populations. Promote consistent, compliant HR and payroll practices across all work arrangements.
Health, Safety & Well-Being (Support Role)
Partner with people leaders and Health & Safety teams to support workplace safety programs for warehouse and office environments. Support injury management, workplace accommodation, and return-to-work programs. Promote a culture of safety, well-being, and compliance across all employee groups.
Culture, Engagement & Continuous Improvement
Support culture and engagement initiatives, including surveys, action planning, and leadership follow-through. Contribute to HR and payroll process improvements, systems enhancements, and data accuracy initiatives. Keep job descriptions current and aligned with organizational needs. Participate in HR and cross-functional projects, including change initiatives and new program rollouts. Act as an internal advisor on HR and payroll-related programs and initiatives. Support the HR Director with projects as required. All other duties as assigned.
Travel
Required to travel up to 10-20% across North America.
Skills and Qualifications
Must be able to work effectively in a team-based collaborative environment. Demonstrates ownership of assigned responsibilities with a positive self-starter attitude. Excellent written and oral communication capability with proven emotional intelligence skills. Includes strong listening and empathy skills. Able to facilitate, support and lead transformation change within the business through coaching, using change management methodologies and tools and transferring this knowledge and capability across the organization. Excellent planning and organizing skills. Builds and maintains strong partnerships across the business at all levels. Strong attention to detail and documentation skills. Ability to manage confidential issues with discretion. Practical, hands-on problem solving.
Required Education and Experience
5+ years HR experience with direct exposure to payroll/timekeeping and benefits administration. Post-secondary degree with HR specialization or with equivalent experience. Experience in warehouse, distribution, tire/automotive, or manufacturing environments is preferred. HR certification CHRP/CHRL (Canada) or SHRM-CP/SPHR (USA) is an asset. Payroll certification PCP (Canada) or FCP (USA) is an asset. Strong knowledge of Canadian provincial and U.S. state labor laws. Skilled in investigations, ER, conflict resolution, and coaching frontline leaders. Experience in Health and Safety compliance. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel. HRIS/payroll system experience (ADP, Ceridian Dayforce, etc.). Bilingual English/French or English/Spanish.
