Job Title: Security Guard
**Site:**City of Brampton - Springdale Library
**Compensation:**19.10/an hour
**Employment Type:**Temp Part Time
**Hours:**Saturday and Sunday (5:45PM - 10:00PM)
Overtime: Averaging Agreement (AA) after 88 hours

About the Role
Ad-Hoc Security Guards perform general duties at various City of Brampton locations as required. Duties include, but are not limited to, general access control, fire watch patrol, and contractor supervision. Ad-Hoc guards may also be deployed for major events including CeleBrampton, Canada Day, and New Year's Eve, as well as on-demand services including meetings, concerts, musicals, plays, festivals, parades, and protests.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to and report all incidents of criminal activity, suspicious activity, and hazardous situations.
- Unlock and lock doors, offices, and suites; provide access control.
- Provide a uniform security presence; complete proactive patrols of platforms, stops, lobbies, and customer service areas.
- Deter and enforce prohibited acts (loitering, panhandling, smoking, alcohol use, skateboarding, cycling).
- Complete patrols using electronic guard tour software.
- Ensure buildings are secured after hours.
- Contractor Supervision and Fire Watch duties as requested.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the City.
Standard Guard Requirements
- Valid Ontario Security Guard Licence (or Dual Security Guard/Private Investigator Licence).
- Minimum two (2) years of building security experience.
- Ability to effectively read, write, speak, and comprehend English.
- Physical and mental ability to fulfil the duties of the assigned work.
- Ability to work in indoor and outdoor environments; walk or stand for long periods; climb stairs and ladders; lift/carry up to 20 lbs; run short distances.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the Criminal Code of Canada, Trespass to Property Act, Charter of Rights and Freedoms, and Ontario Fire Code.

- First Aid/CPR Level C with AED certification (must renew before expiry)
- Mental Health First Aid
- Naloxone Administration
- WHMIS
- Radios, 10-Codes, and Phonetic Alphabet
- Patrol Procedures
- Fire Prevention
- Note-Taking and Report Writing
