Advanced Care Paramedic - Local Edmonton Job (Casual)
About the role
The Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP), will provide immediate Advanced Life Support medical care when summoned without delay, properly triage, advise and/or arrange for timely transport to a health care facility as needed.
Details of position:
Location: Fort Saskatchewan – Need to be local (go home at end of shift)
Durations : approx. 10 days (Start Mid October, ends about Oct 24th)
Shifts : 10 hour shifts, day shifts
- Act in a professional manner that ensures the patient’s dignity, safety, privacy and confidentiality, and decision-making are maintained
- Provide immediate and professional medical care to injured workers on-site, and to arrange timely transport to the nearest medical care facility
- Read, understand, and comply with DXP | HSE Integrated safety and medical services policies, Workplace Scope of Practice Guidelines, Medical Control Guidelines, as well as all applicable government laws and regulations.
- Work within the ACP scope of practice determined by the National Occupational Competency Profile (NOCP), utilizing the DXP | HSE medical control guidelines
- Report to and take direction from the Station Manager for the district in which he/she is working
- Be familiar with and work in accordance with health and safety legislation and company policies and procedures
- Take reasonable care to use safety and personal protective equipment as required by health and safety legislation and company policies and procedures
- Report to HSE Integrated supervision and management immediately any incident or condition believed to be hazardous to worker’s health or safety
- Refuse the work if danger is imminent or not controlled
- Previous industrial medical experience is an asset
You will need to have the following certifications to be considered:
- Current (unrestricted) ACP registration with the applicable provincial licensing body
- H2S Alive
- Valid, unrestricted license with full driving privileges in the province of issue for the specified class of vehicle to be operated on behalf of the company or a higher class of license than that of the vehicle to be operated. (Class 4 driver’s license)
- Construction Safety Training System (CSTS)
*Additional training and certifications may be necessary to meet client specifications.
You will need to be fit for the following:
- Lift up to 50lbs
- Pushing / pulling (patients / objects)
- Sitting / driving
- Bending / kneeling / crouching
- Must be fit for duty at all times
- Working in adverse weather environments (heat / cold) and conditions (rain / wind / snow)
- Potential shift lengths 10 – 12 hours
