Position Overview
The Transportation Compliance Coordinator plays a key role in supporting Pitbull Energy Services transportation safety and regulatory compliance program.
Working closely with operations, dispatch, and drivers, this position monitors driver compliance, fleet safety performance, regulatory documentation, and enforcement risk indicators. The role supports proactive compliance management by identifying potential regulatory issues early and assisting with corrective action before they impact the company’s Carrier Profile or Safety Fitness Certificate.
This role is best suited to someone who understands the real-world operational environment of trucking and how regulatory compliance must work alongside fleet operations.
Key Responsibilities
Transportation Regulatory Compliance
- Support compliance with Transport Canada motor carrier regulations and National Safety Code standards
- Ensure company programs align with Alberta Transportation enforcement requirements
- Maintain transportation regulatory documentation and compliance records
- Assist with preparation for carrier safety audits and regulatory inspections
- Support the ongoing development and improvement of the company’s transportation safety and compliance systems
- Maintain knowledge of regulatory updates and enforcement trends affecting federally regulated carriers
Driver Compliance Monitoring
- Monitor Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs) and driver Hours of Service compliance
- Identify and follow up on log violations, form and manner errors, and regulatory risks
- Work with drivers and dispatch to correct compliance issues
- Maintain driver qualification files including:
- driver licences
- medical certificates
- training records
- regulatory documentation
- Monitor certification and expiry dates to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
Fleet Safety Monitoring
- Monitor telematics alerts, speeding events, and driver behaviour
- Utilize fleet management platforms such as Samsara to monitor safety performance and operational trends
- Review driver safety data and identify areas requiring coaching or corrective action
- Assist with documentation and review of incidents, collisions, and safety events
- Support driver coaching initiatives and safety performance improvement
Carrier Profile Monitoring
- Monitor and analyze the company Alberta Carrier Profile
- Track trends related to:
- roadside inspections
- violations
- collisions
- driver compliance performance
- Identify regulatory risk indicators and provide recommendations to management
- Support strategies to maintain or improve the company’s Safety Fitness rating
Safety Analytics and Reporting
- Maintain transportation safety Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Prepare compliance and safety reports for management
- Analyze safety and compliance data to identify trends and areas for improvement
- Assist with internal safety reviews and operational risk assessments
Transportation Administration
- Maintain driver qualification and regulatory files
- Maintain fleet regulatory documentation and compliance records
- Support IRP and prorate administration
- Maintain vehicle inspection, maintenance, and regulatory documentation
- Assist with regulatory reporting and compliance documentation
- Support internal and external compliance audits
Qualifications
Required
- Experience working in transportation compliance, fleet safety, or trucking operations
- Strong understanding of Canadian trucking regulations and National Safety Code standards
- Experience monitoring ELD systems and Hours of Service compliance
- Strong organizational and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work effectively with drivers, dispatch, and operations personnel
- Organized and able to set up and maintain the processes required to operate an efficient, compliant and safe fleet
Preferred
- Experience working with Alberta Carrier Profile monitoring
- Experience supporting NSC or transportation compliance audits
- Experience with IRP / IFTA / prorate administration
- Experience with fleet telematics systems
- Experience using Samsara fleet management and telematics systems is considered a strong asset
