ABOUT YOU You are a team player who is reliable, responsive to customer needs and excellent at building relationships. Using your positive attitude and well-developed verbal and written communication skills, you pride yourself in being a ‘go to’ person for providing technical support, coaching and guidance to users regarding the scheduling system. You have excellent organizational and time management skills and work well under pressure to meet deadlines. Your keen attention to detail provides you with the ability to accurately create and maintain records, identify issues and take corrective action. Most of all, you enjoy the challenge of continuous learning, and working with a broad range of staff and supervisors with a commitment to providing the best service to support their operational needs.
Working within the Finance department, and reporting to the Central Scheduler 2, you will perform clerical work involving scheduling and timecard preparation using an integrated software application including:

Creating and maintaining schedules to ensure shift times, accounts and pay codes are correct and up-to-date;
-
Assisting supervisors in creating and maintaining schedules, and providing coaching and guidance to support accurate preparation and approval of timecards;
-
Supporting the timecard approval process; running reports to identify issues and validating data accuracy; following-up with supervisors; and ensuring the efficient, accurate, and timely upload of approved timecards to the payroll system;

Investigating, troubleshooting and resolving routine software problems;
-
Providing ongoing coaching and guidance to supervisors and staff;
-
Preparing and maintaining documentation of software, procedures, files and reports;
-
Handling confidential data with care;

Providing support to staff and supervisors with queries and questions, including running summary reports, highlighting issues, investigating/reconciling anomalies and providing supervisors with reports for review and approval; and
-
Other related duties.
You have considerable knowledge of methods and practices involved in the preparation of schedules. You are familiar with working with collective agreements and/or similar policies and how these impact working with the scheduling software. You have strong people skills, and the ability to confidently and courteously respond to enquiries from employees and supervisors, with a commitment to building and maintaining good working relationships. You are comfortable using integrated software applications and various software programs such as Microsoft Excel and Word. You can communicate effectively orally and in writing; and you have the ability to prepare, maintain and revise a variety of manuals, files and records related to the work.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS You have completed Grade 12 supplemented by courses related to the work plus some related experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
This is a regular full-time position for 35 hours per week. The hourly pay rate for this unionized position ranges from $29.48 - $34.63 per hour (2024 rates).
All employees are required to submit a Police Information Check as a requirement of the position prior to any appointment.
