Salary: The salary range for this position is CAD $27.92/Hr. - CAD $29.60/Hr.

Summary:

Reporting to the Site Operations Leader or designate and taking work direction from the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and in alignment with the creation of a vibrant community, the position is responsible for providing personal care to tenants such as delivering medications, grooming and hygiene related duties as established in the individualized Personal Service Plan. Performs light housekeeping, laundry and dietary duties, and provides support and encouragement to tenants. Develops respectful and positive relationships with tenants, which are supportive of their choices. Documents and/or reports concerns or unsafe situations, answers inquiries and participates in meetings.

What You Bring:

Education
Grade 12, Home Support/Residential Care Attendant Certificate, Certificates in CPR, First Aid and Food Safe and successful completion of a medication management module for community health/residential care aides from an accredited educational institution or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Your Day-to-Day

  • Provides care to tenants as required such as delivering medications, providing medication reminders and other duties according to the individualized Personal Service Plan, and in alignment with the Assisted Living guidelines, agreements and philosophies.
  • Assists tenants with personal care and grooming as required according to the established Personal Care Plan.
  • Observes, monitors and reports changes in tenant behaviour, appearance or abilities and completes and maintains related records such as communication and observation logs.
  • Performs delegated tasks such as applying non-sterile dressings as requested by LPN.
  • Performs light housekeeping duties for tenants such as surface cleaning, dusting, washroom and floor cleaning as outlined in the Personal Service Plan and guidelines for assisted living.
  • Launders bedding and towels for tenants according to an established schedule. May assist with tenants' personal laundry as established within the Personal Service Plan.
  • Supports and assists tenants at meal times and delivers food trays to tenants who may be unable to eat in common dining area. Helps prepare snacks with and for tenants outside of meal times. Assists in dining area with table preparation and clearing of dishes as needed.
  • Communicates with, provides support to, and encourages tenants to participate in social and recreational activities in the facility. May accompany tenants on planned external activities or outings.
