We are an integrated health system providing the full continuum of care to the six communities of the western James Bay coast with over 500 employees, physicians, and partners in care. As a health authority, you will work in a unique setting where you have the opportunity to care for patients in all phases of their life journey, in all areas of their health experience. From Primary, Acute, and Mental Health, Dental, Specialty Clinics, Population Health and the WAHA Paramedic Service, the opportunities for growth are boundless. We provide community-based programming in all six of our communities, have six paramedic bases, three hospitals, four emergency departments, one community health centre and a total of 72 beds. Our guiding goal is to be a centre of excellence in Indigenous and remote healthcare. To make this goal a reality, we have formed partnerships with other centres of excellence to remove barriers and eliminate the inequity of health services access that have long impacted the patients that we serve. Who You Are

Detail-oriented with a strong understanding of confidentiality and healthcare data practices

Able to interpret legislation and support privacy operations
-
Comfortable working across departments to improve registration, documentation and compliance
-
Interested in advancing a career in health information governance
What You’ll Do
- Support investigations and documentation of privacy breaches
- Contribute to privacy audits
- Assist with in-person privacy training
- Help maintain privacy logs and internal training materials
- Assist with documentation quality reviews and chart audits
- Work with HIM, IT, and clinical departments to improve data integrity
- Support WAHA’s accreditation and digital health strategy from a privacy and quality lens
What You Bring
- Diploma or degree in Health Information Management, Health Informatics, or related field is required
- Working knowledge of PHIPA and Canadian health privacy legislation
- Willing to obtain Certified Information Privacy Professional certificate
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to communicate in the local native Cree language is an asset

We serve over 12,000 people through hospitals in Moose Factory, Fort Albany, and Attawapiskat, and a health centre in Moosonee. We also operate regional outpatient programs, as well as paramedicine services throughout the region, including in Kashechewan and Peawanuck. We are affiliated with Queens University.
