About the role
The Production Manager, reporting directly to the Director of Internal Operations for Single Family, is responsible for leading and overseeing all pre-release functions, including management of Drafting and Product Development, while overseeing the workflow of the Design Studio. This role requires a highly organized and technically skilled leader with strong communication abilities to effectively manage cross-functional teams and ensure alignment across departments. The Production Manager is accountable for delivering consistent, on-time releases to field, including production drawings, building permit applications, and Design Studio sign-offs, while maintaining the highest standards of plan accuracy and consistency. A key focus of this role is managing pre-release schedules and production timelines to support seamless pre-construction operations and minimize downstream impacts to construction and customer experience. Acting as a subject matter expert and internal consultant, the Production Manager provides guidance to both Sales and Construction teams on building codes, structural requirements, and design considerations, ensuring decisions align with company standards and operational capabilities. Through strong leadership, process oversight, and cross-departmental collaboration, the Production Manager plays a critical role in driving efficiency, consistency, and overall operational success within the Single Family division.
Primary Responsibilities:

Provide strong leadership and direction to the Drafting and Product Development teams, fostering clear communication, collaboration, and alignment with departmental and organizational goals.

Oversee the creation and delivery of production drawings, ensuring accuracy, quality standards, and adherence to established timelines.

Lead new product development initiatives, including models, elevations, pre-planned options, and Global Options Catalogue standard details (where applicable).

Maintain and enforce high standards of plan consistency by reviewing outputs and continuously refining drafting processes to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Manage pre-release schedules and production timelines to support seamless integration with field operations and ensure monthly release targets are consistently achieved.

This includes oversight of the full pre-release lifecycle from firm deal through to release to field, including coordination with the Design Studio to ensure timelines are met.

Act as a key internal consultant to Sales, Estimating, and Construction teams, providing expertise on building codes, structural requirements, and design considerations.

Proactively identify and resolve challenges within the drafting and pre-release process, implementing effective and timely solutions.

Support team development through coaching, mentorship, and performance feedback, fostering growth and accountability within the team.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of drafting processes, procedures, and standards, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal expectations.

Continuously evaluate and improve processes, tools, and technologies to drive efficiency, accuracy, and overall departmental performance.
Qualifications:

Diploma in Architectural Technology or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Minimum 7 years of residential design and drafting experience within the homebuilding industry.

Previous leadership or supervisory experience is considered an asset.

Proficiency in 3D design software is preferred.

Strong ability to read and interpret drawings, plans, and redlines.

Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Highly organized with strong time management and prioritization skills.

Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and drive results.

Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to quality and accuracy.
