Position Purpose The Decision Science Director provides strategic leadership in advanced analytics to support Infrastructure Ontario’s capital projects, asset management, and enterprise-wide decision-making. This role applies sophisticated methodologies—including predictive modeling, simulation, and optimization—to solve complex cost and schedule challenges and inform long-term infrastructure planning. As a senior individual contributor and thought leader, the Director influences data strategy, analytical standards, and innovation across IO, including advising on the strategic application of AI to improve infrastructure delivery and corporate decision-making.
What You Will Do
- Develop and apply descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive models using advanced statistical and machine learning techniques.
- Conduct deep-dive analyses to uncover root causes of cost overruns and schedule delays.
- Translate complex data findings into actionable insights for senior decision-makers.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure data infrastructure supports advanced analytics needs.
- Lead the identification and implementation of automation opportunities for data ingestion and processing.
- Act as a strategic advisor across IO, driving adoption of modern analytics practices and tools.
- Present complex analytical concepts to diverse audiences, including executives and external partners.
- Influence data capture and reporting practices to improve analytical readiness across departments.
- Partner cross-functionally to co-develop tools and methodologies that enhance project evaluation and delivery.
- Represent IO in external forums focused on responsible and impactful use of AI in public infrastructure.
What We Are Looking For
- Extensive experience in decision science, data analytics, and AI strategy.
- Deep understanding of infrastructure lifecycle modeling, cost forecasting, and schedule risk analysis.
- Knowledge and appreciation of AI applications in infrastructure and enterprise analytics.
- Experience collaborating across disciplines including asset management, finance, engineering, and IT.
- Ability to communicate complex analytical concepts to executive and non-technical audiences.
- Strategic thinking and independent judgment in applying analytics to business challenges.
- Relevant professional learnings in data science, statistics, engineering, economics, or operations research.
- Proficiency in Python, SQL, R, and data visualization tools such as PowerBI and Excel.
- Experience with cloud-based analytics platforms and simulation or optimization frameworks.
- Certifications such as Certified Analytics Professional (CAP) or training in responsible AI are considered assets.

We offer a competitive salary range of $120,500 to $ 180,800 ( P6 level), pay will align with skills, knowledge and experience of the candidate.
