POSITION SUMMARY
The Behaviour Analyst will work within a recovery based model of care to provide time limited, in-patient behaviour therapy services to individuals with challenging behaviors related to their mental health diagnosis. Using a bio-psychosocial approach and encompassing the Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) functions of data collection and analysis, behavioural analysis and behavioral intervention, the Behaviour Analyst will collaborate with the various disciplines within the program in the development of integrated formulations and care interventions in accordance with evidence-based practice approaches. The Behavioural Analyst will work with clients, families, staff and service providers to develop and implement individual behavioural support plans. You will liaise with other services at Youthdale such as Inpatient services, Live in Treatment, as well as community agencies in developing a care plan for behaviour needs to improve safety, learning and skills.
The Behaviour Analyst will act as co-facilitator for in-patient group programming, as well as facilitates group therapy and individual counselling in the outpatient services.
The Behaviour Analyst will possess knowledge of risk assessment and work to mitigate risk and encourage client’s stabilization. The Behaviour Analyst will be able to work with clients from diverse populations, contribute to program development, support families, provide behavioural education, support, and supervise students. The position involves working in collaboration with the Aftercare team, in discharge planning.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct behavioural assessments including Functional Analysis, and others.
- Collect and tract data on progress of intervention.
- Deliver direct behavioural services based on the principles of ABA, to children and youth.
- Create behaviour treatment plans and protocols that are aligned with client and family goals.
- Provide consultation to clients, families, professionals, hospitals, and Live in Treatment programs.
- Offer mediator sessions in the areas of communication, behaviour management/emotional regulation, social/interpersonal skills and daily living.
- Deliver professional development workshops for staff and educational workshops for families.
- Work with various professionals and support staff to develop resources using principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis and effective strategies for socially significant behaviour change.
- Participate in discharge planning offering resources and consultation to implement strategies within the living environment and community setting.
- Be flexible in working some evening hours twice per week to accommodate family’s schedules.
- This service is delivered in-centre based environments and virtual meetings with community or home visits when required.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Degree or relevant diploma in Psychology, Social Services/Social Work, Early Childhood Education, Child and Youth Work and/or a Degree or Post-graduate certificate in Behavioural Sciences or Autism Behavioural Science, or completion of Ministry approved training.
- Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA) in good standing with the Behaviour Analyst Certification Board is required.
- Have met all registration requirements with the College of Psychologists of Ontario by July 2024.
- Thorough knowledge of behavioural individual treatment and group programming involving data collection, data tracking, graphing, formulation, planning, implementation and evaluation.
- Demonstrated experience in providing Behavioural Therapy consultation to interdisciplinary teams.
- Demonstrated knowledge of best practices related to treatment of mental health and addiction issues and their impact on individuals, families and caregivers.
- Demonstrated experience utilizing Individual and group counseling skills, including expertise with Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (or Dialectical Behavioral Therapy), Solution Focused therapy, and Family Therapy required.
- Minimum of 2 years of recent relevant experience (within the past 3 years) working in an inpatient settings.
- In-depth theoretical, practical knowledge of ABA principles.
- Specialized knowledge required for conducting functional assessments.
- Demonstrated, broad-based knowledge and experience working with children and youth with developmental disabilities, including mental health and/or autism, and a consultative model of service delivery.
- Knowledge of community-based services and systems.
- Experience working on an interdisciplinary team and in dealing children and youth who have a dual diagnosis, mental health or complex needs would also be an asset.
- Experience with providing support to schools, families, and Live in Treatment using a mediator model of service delivery would be an asset.
- Awareness of the role of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace and within the community being served by the position.
- Fluency in another language is an asset.
