The Planning and Delivery Branch is seeking an experienced IT Project Manager to lead and deliver complex technology projects that directly support police operations and public safety. This project-based role focuses on the implementation and optimization of AXON products within EPS. This role is ideal for candidates with a proven track record in delivering complex IT projects in policing or public safety environments, combining technical expertise with strong governance and stakeholder engagement skills. The candidate will be responsible for:
- Lead the planning, execution and delivery of IT projects aligned with EPS priorities, including AXON product deployments and integrations.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define project scope, objectives and success criteria for police technology initiatives.
- Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, budgets and deliverables.
- Ensure compliance with EPS governance, security and privacy requirements.
- Facilitate decision-making and accountability within project teams.
- Provide clear reporting on project progress, risks and outcomes to stakeholders.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with business units, technical teams, vendors (including AXON) and project sponsors.
- Manage project budgets, forecasts and financial reporting.
- Identify, assess and document project risks and issues; develop mitigation strategies and contingency plans.
- Ensure projects follow EPS processes, practices, polices and that technology solutions are compatible with EPS architecture.
- Performing other related duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Degree in a related discipline and four (4) years experience in a project leadership role in an Information Technology environment OR Post-secondary diploma in a related discipline and six (6) years related experience, of which four (4) years is in a project leadership role in an Information Technology environment.
- Minimum of four (4) years in a project leadership role in an IT environment, preferably within police, public safety or governance.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification required.
- Proven experience delivering IT projects in public safety environments and familiarity with AXON systems (Evidence.com, Capture, Investigate, etc.).
- Demonstrated experience with AXON systems and products (i.e., body-worn cameras, evidence management, TASER, etc.).
- Hands-on experience with administration and configuration of AXON products.
- Strong knowledge of project management methodologies (PMBOK, Agile, Waterfall) and tools (Microsoft Project or similar).
- Experience managing cross-functional teams and vendor relationships.
- Financial management and budgeting experience for IT projects.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills.\
- Ability to work well in dynamic, high-stakes environments and adapt to shifting priorities.
Hours of Work:
40 hours per week , Monday – Friday. The successful candidate may be required to work evenings and/or weekends to assist, as required, for critical project activities.
Salary Range:
21B, Salary Grade: 039, $54.32 - $69.23 (Hourly), $4,345.60 - $5,538.90 (Bi-Weekly), $113,420.16 - $144,564.77 (Annually)
The rates quoted are in accordance with a collective agreement between the Union and the City of Edmonton.
