About the role
Ambient Mechanical Ltd is currently seeking an experienced Licensed 313A Chiller Service Technician to join our growing chiller applied service team. The successful candidate will be responsible for troubleshooting, servicing, maintaining, and repairing commercial and industrial HVAC equipment, with a strong focus on chillers and related mechanical systems.
This role is ideal for a skilled technician who takes pride in quality workmanship, understands the importance of customer service, and can work independently in commercial, institutional, and industrial environments.
Key Responsibilities

Perform service, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of commercial and industrial chillers.

Work on centrifugal, screw, scroll, and reciprocating chiller systems. Magnetic and Non-Magnetic

Diagnose mechanical, electrical, control, and refrigerant-related issues.
-
Perform seasonal start-ups, shutdowns, inspections, and preventive maintenance.
-
Complete compressor inspections, oil analysis, refrigerant leak checks, pressure testing, and operational reports.

Service related HVAC equipment including pumps, cooling towers, heat exchangers, air handling units, and controls.

Interpret wiring diagrams, manufacturer manuals, mechanical drawings, and service procedures.

Maintain accurate service records, work orders, deficiency reports, and customer documentation.
-
Communicate professionally with customers, supervisors, and team members.
-
Follow all company safety policies, refrigerant handling procedures, and applicable codes and regulations.

Participate in on-call rotation, overtime, and emergency service as required.
Qualifications
-
Minimum 3–5 years of experience servicing commercial HVAC equipment; chiller experience preferred.
-
Valid 313A Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems Mechanic License preferred.

Valid ODP certification required.

Experience with major chiller manufacturers such as Carrier, Trane, York, Daikin, McQuay, Multistack, Smardt, or similar equipment.

Strong troubleshooting skills in electrical, mechanical, controls, and refrigeration systems.

Ability to work independently and manage service calls efficiently.

Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
-
Strong communication and customer service skills.
-
Commitment to safe work practices and professional conduct.
Assets
-
Experience with centrifugal chillers, screw chillers, VFDs, soft starters, and chiller control panels.
-
Knowledge of building automation systems.
-
Welding, brazing, rigging, or compressor rebuild experience.
-
Gas license considered an asset.
