About the role

Job Description

The Welder is responsible for interpreting blueprints and work instructions to set up and weld components within specified tolerances. This position requires precision, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining established safety and quality standards throughout all phases of the welding process.

Job Responsibilities & Requirements

What You Will Do:

Responsibilities

  • Possess all tools to complete the essential duties and responsibilities.
  • Set up and operate welding equipment, including powering on machines and properly connecting cables.
  • Adjust machine settings to ensure optimal weld penetration, quality, and appearance according to specifications and material requirements.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and work instructions to set-up and weld parts to tolerance using GWAW, FCAW, SMAW, while maintaining quality and safety standards.
  • Self-inspect weldments for quality and drawing specifications.
  • Operate oxygen/fuel gas set-ups for pre-heating, cutting, or straightening parts.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and comply with MiTek Lean manufacturing, and 5S standards.
  • Attendance at work during the regularly scheduled shift is an essential duty. This includes but is not limited to the ability to be present at work, arrive on time and be at the workstation ready for work at the start of the shift.

Qualifications

  • High School/GED required
  • 1-2 Years of related experience and/or training required
  • Equivalent combination of experience and education which clearly indicates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position may substitute on a year for year basis
  • Able to perform mathematical skills such as calculating proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume and able to apply concepts of basic geometry

Soft Skills

  • Computer Skills: Windows Operating System
  • Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to read a tape measurer. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Time Management: Completing a job within the requested time frame.
  • This position requires the individual to be able to communicate through speaking and hearing.

This is a physical position that requires the individual to be able to: stand, walk and carry up to 50 lbs., push/pull, walk upstairs and crouch. This position requires the individual to be able to communicate through speaking and hearing.
