This is a pivotal moment to join the Medical Affairs and Wellness Office (MAWO) at the First Nations Health Authority (FNHA). As we advance our commitment to transforming health systems and improving outcomes for First Nations people in BC, the Nurse Practitioner Clinical Support Lead will play a key role in shaping culturally safe, community-driven approaches to public health and wellness. Title: Nurse Practitioner, Clinical Support Lead (0.4 FTE)

Salary: $141,038 - $165,927 - $190,817 per year (pay range explained below)

Contract: Permanent

About The Role The Nurse Practitioner, Clinical Support Lead (0.4 FTE) operationalizes FNHA strategies and provides leadership to Nurse Practitioners to meet the broader operational requirements as outlined in respective service plans, ensuring that principles and parameters are upheld and met. The position also provides clinical leadership, mentorship and peer support for Nurse Practitioners working at First Nations primary health care clinical settings.

The Nurse Practitioner, Clinical Support Lead is a health care and clinical support champion and resource to provide longitudinal team-based case with other team members and point of care workers (including Nurse Practitioners and other point of care workers and providers) to optimize the delivery of culturally safe primary health care.

As a collaborative leader, the Nurse Practitioner Clinical Support Lead works with other Medical Leaders to demonstrate and promote shared responsibility to improve access, equity, and health outcomes for First Nations people. The role supports a patient-centred and results-oriented approach, championing integrated health care services while promoting anti-racism and decolonizing health care practices.

Principal Duties And Responsibilities

  • Seeks to implement a two-eyed seeing approach that integrates First Nations principles and practices into the development and delivery of primary health care services.

  • Promotes cultural safety and First Nations-led care across the FNHA and its partners by Nurse Practitioners by:

  • Collaborates with First Nations leaders, Elders, and knowledge keepers to co-create culturally safe and trauma-informed practices

  • Supports integration of traditional healing approaches, were guided by community governance

  • Contributes to strategic initiatives focused on equity, access, and First Nations people’s health and wellness outcomes.

  • Develops inter-departmental partnerships within the FNHA, including with the other MAWO Medical Directors, Medical Leads, and operational leadership, the Office of the Chief Medical Officer (OCMO), and the Office of the Chief Nursing Officer (OCNO), to support the development of strategic initiatives.

  • Champions interprofessional collaboration and team-based care models that reflect First Nations values of relationship, respect, and reciprocity.\Provides clinical expertise and support to Nurse Practitioners with role clarity, shared care planning, and integrated workflows that reflect the full scope of Nurse Practitioner practice and enables them to fulfil their clinical obligations.

  • Assists Medical Leads and operational leadership in dealing with quality-of-care issues including issues regarding performance, availability, and interpersonal matters in clinical settings

  • Assists primary health care medical and operational leadership with workforce planning, mentorship, and capacity building by:

  • Support efforts to recruit, onboard, and retain NPs, with a focus on cultural safety, community fit, and long-term sustainability.

  • Developing mentorship programs for new or early-career Nurse Practitioners and Nurse Practitioners new to First Nations health and wellness.

  • Promote peer support structures to foster resilience, knowledge exchange, and continuous growth.

About You To be successful in this role you will have:

Education & Occupational Certification, Experience (REQUIRED)

  • Completed Nurse Practitioner (Family) Master’s Program.
  • Current BC College of Nurses and Midwives License – Full.
  • Minimum 5 years of recent and relevant experience in primary care setting.

Education & Occupational Certification, Experience (CONSIDERED AN ASSET)

  • Significant 5 to 8 years recent and relevant experience in primary and community care preferred.
  • Significant, recent and relevant experience working with Indigenous people, communities, or health organizations.
  • Demonstrated experience in management and/or leadership role in a health service environment.

The Pay Range is the minimum and maximum annual salary based on full time equivalent hours.

Incumbents are typically hired, transferred or promoted between the minimum and midpoint of the range based on their knowledge, skills, abilities and experience in relation to the role requirements.

The top 10% of the pay range is for the incumbents who are industry experts in the job with the combination of exceptional experience and competencies needed to perform all duties and responsibilities at a superior capability level. Internal employee compensation will be determined as per the FNHA Employee Total Compensation Policy.
