We are looking for a skilled machinist to join our Mine Maintenance team at our Baseplant operations. You will play a key role in maintaining, repairing, and manufacturing components for a wide range of industrial and mining equipment. This position requires strong technical experience in machining to ensure the safe, efficient, and high-quality execution of maintenance and repair activities both in the shop and field environments.

Minimum Requirement

  • Five or more years of experience working with industrial drawings as a machinist in a maintenance, repair or manufacturing environment
  • Experience with lathes, milling machines, surface grinders, radial arm drills, boring mills, manual and computer numerical control (CNC) lathes while working in an industrial plant
  • Valid Alberta Journeyman Machinist Certificate or a Red Seal Interprovincial Journeyperson Machinist Certificate
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • A valid driver's licence and a clean driving record

Key Accountabilities:

  • Safely maintain, troubleshoot and repair industrial machinery, mining equipment and mechanical equipment, including valves, pumps, compressors primarily in the maintenance shop and occasionally in the field
  • Strive to safely and efficiently ensure optimum reliability and availability of our equipment to the highest quality standard
  • Take initiative to aid other maintenance trades and/or production technicians as required
  • Perform dynamic/static balancing on rotating equipment
  • Participate in root cause analysis and post-failure reviews; recommend and implement solutions for improved reliability and performance
  • Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities and adhere to all preventative maintenance and quality assurance programs

Location and other Key Details:

  • You will work out of our Baseplant site in Fort McMurray, Alberta

  • The shift schedule is a 4 days on/5 days off/ 5 days on/4 days off/5 days on/5 days off rotation: 12-hour shifts

  • You will be required to perform some heavy lifting, use ladders and work on elevated work sites such as scaffolds and towers with the ability to perform in a variety of different environments both indoor and outdoor as well as within confined spaces

  • If you reside outside of Fort McMurray, relocation of your primary residence to within 60 km of Fort McMurray is mandatory.
