About the role
The Women & Babies Program within the DAN Program at Sunnybrook Research Institute (SRI) is committed to advancing clinical research that improves maternal and neonatal outcomes through high-quality data collection, rigorous research practices, and collaborative study conduct. Our team supports a range of investigator-initiated and collaborative research projects aimed at strengthening evidence generation in women’s and babies’ health.
We are seeking aResearch Assistantto support ongoing research activities within the Women & Babies Program. Reporting to the Principal Investigator and working closely with the research team, the successful candidate will contribute primarily todata abstraction from electronic medical records (EMRs), while also supporting general research coordination activities across active studies. This position is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, organized, and interested in clinical research in obstetrics and women’s health.
Responsibilities
- Abstract and collect clinical research data from electronic medical records and other source documents
- Enter, clean, and maintain study data in research databases and spreadsheets
- Assist with database organization, quality checks, and query resolution
- Support screening and identification of potentially eligible participants, where applicable
- Assist with study documentation, regulatory files, and research record maintenance
- Support preparation of study materials, logs, and tracking tools
- Coordinate with investigators, research staff, and clinical teams to ensure accurate and timely study activities
- Assist with general day-to-day research operations as needed across multiple projects
- Maintain participant confidentiality and adhere to institutional privacy, ethical, and research compliance requirements
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in health sciences, life sciences, or a related field
- Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail
- Experience with data entry, chart review, or medical documentation
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a research environment
Preferred:
- Prior experience in clinical research or research coordination
- Obstetrics, maternal-child health, or women’s health experience
- Familiarity with electronic medical records and clinical documentation
