YOUR DAY TO DAY LIFE
We are looking for a Co-op Student in 4606 Canada Way, Burnaby, B.C. V5G 1K5 CAN. Your mission will be to:
This Position is open to current students at SFU, UBC and BCIT only
- Log in samples into the LIMS
- Prepare samples for extraction
- Perform extraction from horse urine and blood samples for drug detection
- Prepare supplies needed for extraction
- Prepare solutions and reagents as required
- Wash glassware as required
- Dispose of completed urine and blood samples
- Dispose of solvent waste into waste drum in storage room
- Defrost sample storage freezers when required
- Record temperature of apparatus on a daily basis
- Organize and maintains data files
- Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned
Your Profile
- Obtaining the Security Screening Certificate and Briefing Form at the Protected B Reliability Status is MANDATORY
- Dynamic, energetic, motivated, positive outlook, with a "can-do" attitude to be able to work in a fast paced environment
- Good time-management, communication, multi-tasking and priority setting skills
- Strong sense of urgency & the ability to adapt to a changing environment
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail & record keeping skills
- Ability to accurately follow Standard operating Procedures (SOP’s) and instructions
- Ability to learn quickly

Work Environment
- Students may be expected to perform repetitive somewhat physical work using a variety of machines and equipment as required and according to deadlines established by more experienced analysts & their supervisor
- The job requires flexible working hours and overtime
- May involve long periods of standing
- Hazardous materials are handled using established safety procedures and appropriate equipment
- Fast paced environment
Compensation: $18.43/hr
