The Decision Support Analyst works within a team model, whose function is to provide clinical utilization, financial analysis and strategic problem solving to clinical and non-clinical teams within the organization.

REQUIREMENTS**:**
- Minimum of a four (4) year university degree in healthcare or business administration, statistics or mathematics, epidemiology, health information or health administration or related discipline.
- Experience and formal training combined with demonstrated performance and ability may substitute for stipulated academic requirements.
- Minimum of two (2) years relevant experience in the hospital / health care environment
- Possesses working knowledge of Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (MOHLTC) Reporting and Hospital business processes.
- Experience with health records data (CIHI), case costing and MIS/OHRS is an asset.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft applications including Excel, Access DB and PowerPoint, Report Generator and Crystal Report writer would be an asset.
- Experience with other analytical/statistical tools (SPSS or SAS) would be an asset.
- Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills with all levels of staff including physicians, patient service leaders, Ministry Representatives and various other internal/external client groups.
- Sound organizational and planning skills with the ability to multi-task and meet conflicting deadlines are essential.

- Demonstrated commitment to personal growth and development.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking capabilities with excellent attention to detail.
- Experience working with healthcare-related databases, specifically manipulating data and performing statistical data analysis.
- Embodies the LEAN ideology by actively and continually seeking opportunities for continuous improvement
- Must have demonstrated ability to meet the attendance standards of the Hospital
- Bilingualism preferred (French/English)
RESPONSIBILITIES**:**

Providing statistical and quantitative methods support for Directors/Managers and Committees of the Hospital
-
Analysis of productivity reports, activity budgets, cost trends, and case cost.
-
Preparation of Ministry of Health and Ontario Health reporting with respect to statistical and clinical information.
-
Conducting impact analyses and planning of development projects and expansion of services.
-
Planning and programs/services evaluation
-
Integration of utilization data into business plans, proposals and reports.
-
Monitoring and interpretation of financial and statistical data and trends, including interpreting financial performance measures, analyzing monthly budget variances and resolving discrepancies in reports.

Analyzing current and future activity volumes and financial trends.
-
Assisting in developing master programs, business cases and functional plans for redevelopment through collection and analysis of data.

Responding to ad-hoc data requests as needed and identifying issues to the Director/Manager regarding reporting and analysis.

Staying abreast of ongoing trends and developments and remaining current within profession or field.
-
Communicating and working collaboratively with Health Records, Finance department, nursing units and other levels of the organization to coordinate the appropriate projects/tasks assigned.

Provide guidance and support to clinical Directors and Managers in the development and monitoring of Quality Improvement Plan, Lean Management and other organizational initiatives.

Performs other duties as assigned by higher authority, which are unplanned, or of a transient nature and are consistent with the above job purpose and duties.
