This home requires an experienced, dynamic and effective manger to lead and supervise a staff team in supporting two Individuals with complex needs. Job Description
To provide a safe, supportive, structured, and developmentally appropriate home environment that promotes a sense of overall well-being, belonging and empowerment for the individual, as well as the care team.
To manage all aspects of the home environment including: individual care, team building, home operations, and finances.
To collaborate with the individual, their families and other stakeholders to pro-actively create and promote a plan of care which affords opportunities for inclusion and full participation in both the community and the individual’s home life.
The role includes the requirement to work in a stressful environment often dealing with individuals and staff in crisis situations. The ability to function independently, under pressure while effectively and resourcefully managing emergency situations is an ongoing expectation of the role.
Evening and weekend work may be required.
Education
Undergraduate Degree in Psych, Social Work, Counselling or equivalent:
Individual degree/diploma and experience considered;
CPI and/or Mandt certification and training
First Aid training (Condition of Hire)
Background and Experience
Administrative and supervisory experience is required
Demonstrated working knowledge of community-based resources
Neuro-behavioural experience (ABA, Mandt training, CPI training)
Experience with alternative methods of communication (PICS, PECS)
Experience in application and understanding of behavioural support plans
Insight into specific disabilities and/or behaviour supports required for persons in care
Familiarity with MCFD Plan of Care (CPOC) and/or CARF Person Centered Plan (PCP)
Insight into Children’s services including social-recreational and developmental needs
Experience with escalation/arousal cycles
Understanding of Canada’s Food guide and meal preparation
Experience in collaboratively working with stakeholders in the development of person centered planning documents
Group Process and Facilitation Skills/ Conflict resolution
Experience in accessing community resources (employment, recreation)
