About the role

Description:

As a Pharmacist I, you will be responsible for the safe, effective and efficient preparation and distribution of pharmaceutical services. You will manage medication therapy for patients, both initially and on an ongoing basis. In addition, you will provide assessment, intervention and resolution of potential or actual drug‑related problems and oversee activities related to compounding and packaging.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy.
  • Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

  • Additional Prescribing Authorization (APA) from the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP). Successful candidates not having APA will be expected to obtain it within 6 months of commencing in this position.
  • Pharmacy related experience in a hospital setting or in direct patient care providing comprehensive medication management services.
  • Recent experience as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team.
  • Experience with computerized medication order entry, and different drug distribution systems such as unit dose.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated self‑directed learning and continuing education.
  • Demonstrated good time management including ability to switch priorities and multitask.
  • Demonstrated excellent communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, good organizational and problem‑solving skills.
  • Self‑motivated; able to work both independently and cooperatively in a team environment.
  • Rural hospital experience an asset.
