The Infrastructure, Transportation, and Parks Department is currently recruiting for a regular full-time Supervisor 2 (Park Facilities & Infrastructure). This newly established position is crucial for optimizing the management of our parks and enhancing the overall quality of public spaces in North Vancouver. You will play a key role in contributing to the safety, enjoyment, and satisfaction of all users while aligning the management of park assets with the City’s strategic direction.

In this leadership position, you will provide skilled supervision by coordinating, planning, directing, and participating in the tasks of crews and contractors related to the Park Facilities & Infrastructure division of Operations.

Reporting to the Section Manager of Parks Operations, the successful candidate will be responsible for the technical, supervisory, and administrative work involved in managing critical park facilities and hard assets, including, but not limited to, playgrounds, buildings, signage, decks, bridges, irrigation systems, sports courts, dog parks, lighting, trails, pathways, and more. You will ensure thorough condition assessments, repairs, and replacements are carried out to maintain high safety and usability standards; manage budgeting for capital repairs and replacements; prioritize projects based on community needs; and oversee service procurement through Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and Requests for Quotations (RFQs). You will also lead and supervise a dedicated team in the daily maintenance of park facilities, including routine tasks such as cleaning, locking, and restocking to guarantee a welcoming environment for all users. Additionally, you will respond to public complaints and inquiries regarding park infrastructure and facilities, attempt to resolve conflicts within defined policies, procedures, and service levels, and make resolution recommendations. Furthermore, you will collaborate with city staff and event teams to ensure all necessary support, staffing, and equipment are in place for events hosted in our parks, enriching community engagement and enhancing public spaces. You will prepare cost and time estimates, monitor budget expenditures, and participate in developing annual work schedules, operating and capital budgets, and long-range plans. Moreover, you will build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external contacts to resolve service requests efficiently.

You are known for your excellent leadership and supervisory skills and possess a demonstrated knowledge of safety procedures and processes. You will have completed Grade 12, supplemented by a degree or diploma in facility asset management or a related field, as well as considerable related technical and supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Additional certifications in facility operations and maintenance are considered assets. A thorough knowledge of the methods, practices, procedures, materials, tools, and equipment used in parks operations, facilities, and construction tasks is required. You will be proficient with Microsoft Office, GIS, PeopleSoft, and Infor Public Works (IPS) or similar financial and asset management systems. A valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License is also required.

Salary:
$48.22 per hour
(January 2024 rates)

Hours of Work:
7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday to Friday
