Position Overview:
Do you have a passion for customer service? Are you ready to join a team that values both people and plants? We’re looking for a friendly, detail-oriented individual to join us as a Cashier. You’ll play a key role in providing excellent service and creating an exceptional shopping experience for our customers. If you enjoy interacting with people, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and love the atmosphere of a garden center, this position is for you!
Position Details:
- Type: Seasonal, Part-Time
- Schedule: Days, Evenings, and Weekends
- Hours of Operations: 9:00 AM - 8:00 PM shift lengths vary between 4 and 8 hours.
- Location: Shelmerdine Garden Centre Ltd. (Must have own transportation—no bus service available)
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Operating the cash register and processing customer transactions
- Greeting customers and providing friendly, knowledgeable assistance
- Maintaining a clean and organized cashier station
- Handling customer inquiries and providing information about products and services
- Ensuring products are accurately scanned and packaged
- Assisting with stocking shelves and organizing store displays
- Supporting other departments as needed and working in a fast-paced environment
What We’re Looking For:
- Previous cashier or retail experience is considered an asset
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work quickly, accurately, and efficiently in a busy environment
- Physically fit and able to stand for long periods
- Ability to multitask and remain organized under pressure
- Friendly, approachable, and enthusiastic demeanor
- Knowledge of plants and gardening products is an asset
