Position: Facilities and Maintenance Manager

Location: Colborne, ON.

Reports to : Plant Manager

Ensuring the leadership of the Maintenance Department in supporting the Colborne Plant, including safety and compliance, strategic planning, and execution of preventative maintenance activities of the building infrastructure, grounds, and machinery. The job also involves supporting the Engineering Department, including project management, process engineering, integration of automated systems, and continuous improvement.

The Facilities and Maintenance Manager have the following responsibilities:

  • Providing necessary leadership and supervision to internal skilled trades as well as external contractors.
  • Ensuring safety and compliance of the facilities and the maintenance employees in relation to complying with all applicable legislation
  • Managing building, grounds, and manufacturing assets, ensuring that regular and preventative maintenance programs are established to ensure safe operation, reliability, longevity, and operational performance.
  • Troubleshooting and repairing production equipment as required, using root cause analysis. Sourcing and maintaining critical spare parts to optimize machine availability.
  • Managing contractors, including documentation, deliverables, and performance. MRO and capital budgeting, as well as reporting key performance indicators.
  • Supporting the Engineering Department with mechanical and electrical specification and installation of new equipment, automation, and continuous improvement projects.
  • Identifying and developing skills of the Maintenance Team through training and education.
  • Developing and maintaining a system of Lean Daily Management.

Background Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or Diploma in Electrical, Mechanical Engineering Technology or Technician.
  • Skilled trade certification and Project Management Professional certification are considered definite assets
  • 5 + years of related maintenance or engineering supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong working knowledge and understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical and mechanical systems including welding, fabrication and HVAC are required
  • SCADA systems including PLC, HMI, VFD troubleshooting a definite asset
  • Experience in Continuous Improvement, Visual or Lean Daily Management is considered an asset
