About the role
FINANCIAL CONTROLLER We’re seeking an experienced accountant to oversee our accounting team in the role of Financial Controller. The ideal candidate will have proven industry experience as an accountant, preferably in a senior role. As a strong communicator and skilled financial analyst, you will make it your mission to streamline our budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting processes. You will produce thorough financial-status reports for senior management to help improve our operational efficiency and aid in our continued growth. This role reports to our CEO.
WHAT YOU WILL GET TO DO Provide comprehensive financial updates to senior management by evaluating, analyzing, and reporting appropriate data points Guide financial decisions by applying company policies and procedures to current economic landscape Develop, implement, and maintain financial controls and guidelines Analyze financial performance and recommend actions to improve profitability, efficiency, and cash flow. Achieve budgeting goals with proper scheduling, analysis, and corrective action Lead the accounting team Responsible for the preparation of financial reports for monthly bank reporting and support of annual audits Accountable for leading external auditors during year-end audit Assist and support in special projects as necessary Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning processes Prepare financial models and scenario analyses to support strategic initiatives Accountable for leading the monthly accounting close process for all related entities
DAILY AND MONTHLY RESPONSIBILITIES Manage and monitor all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems. Ability to work with multiple companies (US – CAD). Support payable, receivable, payroll and accounting teams (8-10 persons) Maintain internal control safeguards for the receipt of revenue, costs and both team and organizational budgets and actual expenditures Implement consistent accounting policies, practices, and procedures across all programs, upholding federal, provincial/state, and local legal standards by remaining knowledgeable about existing, new, and future legislation Develop and enforce internal controls to maximize protection of company assets, policies, procedures, and workflow Oversee and support accounting team with dynamic leadership that creates an environment of trust and productivity PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or related field Bilingualism, an asset Strong knowledge of Excel 5-10+ years proven accounting experience Professional accounting certification (CPA), an asset Working knowledge of finance law and regulatory standards Strong working knowledge of detailed financial data analysis Strong understanding of economic and banking processes, an asset Deadline driven, results-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously Payroll experience, an asset Prior consumer goods’ experience, an asset Experience with SAP, an asset
