Job description and duties

Coast Mountain College (CMTN), Terrace campus, invites applications for a regular full-time term Instructor in the Practical Nursing program commencing August 17, 2026 and end October 1, 2027. Salary will be in accordance with the BCGEU Instructor Scale ranging from $36.46 to $47.15 per hour plus a comprehensive benefit plan.

This position is well suited for an individual with a passion for caring for people in need of health care and who is interested in sharing their skills and experience to influence the next generation of nurses.

Duties: This position will be responsible for contributing to the academic success of students by teaching the following PN courses from the indicated campuses, in face-to-face and online settings. This includes teaching and guiding students, providing feedback, correction, encouragement, and direction in the Practical Nursing program.

Qualifications

  • Current unrestricted full registration as a LPN, RN, or RPN with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives
  • 3 – 5 years of recent and relevant practice experience including clinical experience
  • Additional post-secondary education in teaching (i.e. A Master’s in Adult Education, a Provincial Teaching Certificate, a Provincial Instructor’s Diploma) is an asset
  • Clinical instructors must also meet the clinical practice requirements: current CPR certification and up to date immunizations (particularly the COVID-19 vaccination)
  • Knowledge and enthusiasm for the best practices in equity, diversity, and inclusion along
  • Demonstrated excellence with intercultural competence, particularly with the local Indigenous communities (i.e.: completion of course work in Indigenous cultural safety and humility)

Applicants must have a strong understanding of the Canadian healthcare system, healthcare team dynamics, and current policies across residential, acute care, and community settings. Preferred experience includes working with older adults with complex health needs, as well as familiarity with home support, multi-level/complex care, and acute care environments.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate adaptability, flexibility, and proficiency with technology. Additionally, strong organizational, interpersonal, and collaborative skills are essential.
