Specific Accountabilities:

  • Work with clients to identify conventional and unconventional IP assets
  • Synthesize IP assets into a larger IP development strategy with clear commercialization opportunities
  • Work with clients to build larger multifaceted IP commercialization strategies
  • Identify catalyst opportunities wherein funding will trigger substantive advances in IP strategy or IP commercialization
  • Develop patent monetization, IP licensing and investment strategies with clients
  • Evaluate IP commercialization opportunities for new technologies
  • Review IP market trends and intelligence
  • Support in the preparation and conduct of market research
  • Maintain collaborative relationships with industry and existing clients
  • Bridge clients to support resources that supplement their IP and IP commercialization knowledge and resources

About the Position:

This is a regualr part-time support staff Bargaining Unit position reporting to the Manager, Centre for Community, Health, and Social Impact & Intellectual Property Services, working 17 hours per week at an hourly rate of $45.21

The Intellectual Property Development Coordinator develops strategies, conducts research and collates relevant information to support clients. Position provides insight into the commercial viability of technology, and the role that a multifaceted IP strategy fits within the business environment. Incumbent must interpret the value of conventional and unconventional IP, how they can complement each other and issues concerning commercialization. Requires the capacity to envision how a commercial and business strategy is dictated and impacted by the type, scale, and strength of all of the IP elements within the IP strategy. Possessing knowledge of the impact of legislative and regulatory requirements, incumbent ensures that all intellectual property (IP) strategies comply with the same.

Qualifications:

  • Three-year diploma or degree in Law and IP development/management
  • 3 years of working experience within IP development/management
