Job Description:

The Manager, IT Infrastructure and Cloud Technologies works with the Directors of Student Services, Marketing, Public Relations, Finance, Human Resources, Learning and Teaching Services; Academic Deans, Ancillary Services, the Students Association and the Registrar to develop, revise and carry out operations, maintenance and improvements to the College’s integrated IT infrastructure and Cloud technologies and its interface with the outside world in order to meet the Colleges vision and strategy.

The incumbent work with the College Community to identify and create opportunities to leverage existing and emerging technologies (eg, Cloud solutions) to improve the service and efficiency of the organization. Working in conjunction with the ITS Management team, ensures that policies, procedures, processes and client service delivery is consistent and seamless across teams for Service delivery.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Monitoring and analysis of service metrics related to critical IT infrastructure systems and Cloud technologies, be proactive in adhering to the platforms SLA.
  • Manages the College’s ~17 IT on-premise and cloud infrastructure technicians, $4.4M operating budget and the associated operations, maintenance and improvements to ensure that the on-premise and cloud infrastructure supports all college activities appropriately, 24 hours a day.
  • Carries out all the agreed to capital projects, usually approximately $1-2M per year, delivering the functionality on time and within budget.
  • Provides planning and strategic input into the College’s IT Operating Plans.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum three (3) year Diploma/Degree in Computer Science/Systems/Engineering/Information Systems or a degree in business with experience in Information Technology;

  • Professional development such as PMP or ITIL is preferred;

  • Training in ITIL Foundations, or CCNE/CCNA etc. or Project Management Professional (PMP) designation

  • 5 plus years of progressive management/leadership working within IT infrastructure and networking;

  • Comprehensive understanding of IT infrastructure systems and related software;

  • Comprehensive understanding of leased telecommunications voice and data wide area networks;

  • A minimum of nine (9) years’ experience is required in the following areas:

  • Advanced understanding of Cloud Technologies in a complex and distributed organization;

  • Advanced understanding of server infrastructure in a complex environment;

  • Advanced understanding of storage, backups, and related technologies in a complex environment;

  • Advanced understanding of IT security risks and mitigation strategies;

  • Progressive management of an IT/IS technical support organization with extensive front-line client service experience and experience delivering in a tiered response environment

    • Leading teams that support enterprise business critical applications, preferably in a custom developed enterprise systems environment
    • Managing business analysis and development, including financial analysis, management and development of Management Information Systems, with preference for experience in providing integrated information support to medium sized corporation executives and users
  • Experience with cloud technologies, hybrid architectures, and their impact on traditional data centers;

  • Experience with Post-Secondary Education preferred;

  • Experience in managing personnel, operations and capital budgets in excess of $6M annually;

  • Ability to work effectively with upper management, peers and front-line staff;

  • Ability to provide presentations to senior executives about technical service delivery strategies, issues and options.
