About the role
Open Door Group (ODG), a trailblazing non-profit organization serving communities across Canada, is looking for an Plant Sales Assistant to join our Gardengate team!
Salary: $17.85 per hour
Status: Temporary 12 week contract
Start Date: March 2026
End Date: June 2026
Hours of Work: Part-time – 15 hours per week over 3 days
Location: The primary work location for this position will the Open Door Group Gardengate location.
Gardengate is a long-standing community-based horticulture program in Kamloops that supports individuals living with addictions or mental health challenges through healing, recovery, and skill-building in a garden setting. For over 25 years, the program has participants to work toward personal goals such as healthy eating, active living, and vocational development while building confidence and meaningful connections. Together with participants, staff, and volunteers, Gardengate grows and harvests food for personal use and for the wider community, contributing an average of 18,000 pounds of fresh produce each year to support local food security and community well-being.
Reporting to the Activity Coordinator/Garden Coordinator, the Plant Sales Assistant will assist with our annual plant sales, and will be responsible for:

Seedling tabulation

Plant tagging
-
Organizing and watering plants and greenhouse

Assisting with cash register
-
Sales and service.
The Plant Sales Assistant will provide courteous and professional service to customers of the Gardengate plant sales as well as supporting staff with the preparation for plant sales.

Qualifications:

One year of recent related horticulture experience

Knowledge of, or experience with, the mental health system in British Columbia

Knowledge of Gardengate programs and services
