About the role

The Granite Club is looking for a full time Head Badminton Professional to oversee the Badminton Program and implement policies and procedures as agreed to by the Badminton Committee and approved by the Director of Racquets. They will promote the game of badminton to the Club membership by providing comprehensive programming for all levels, ages, and abilities. Responsibilities include the delivery of instructional, competitive, and social opportunities, including lessons, clinics, leagues, tournaments, team coaching, special events, and fostering a welcoming and engaging badminton community. Primary Responsibilities To provide quality badminton programs utilizing established junior and adult development pathways. To teach or have qualified staff or contract professionals, teach programs as agreed upon with the Director of Racquets. Collaborate closely with the Pickleball Head Professional to strategically allocate shared court space and programming time, balancing member demand, participation, trends, waitlist activity, and overall club priorities. To oversee the total Badminton Program and implement policies and procedures as approved by the Director of Racquets. To recommend to the Director of Racquets programs and initiatives that support the ongoing growth and development of the Badminton Section. To be responsible for the training, supervision, mentoring, and performance management of all badminton staff, including professional, contract, administrative, and Sports Desk personnel. To prepare all required reports, submissions, and administrative documentation as requested by management or the Badminton Section Committee. To ensure Club rules related to dress code, court usage, etiquette, guest policies, and House Rules are enforced consistently. To attend quarterly meetings of the Badminton Section Committee, providing guidance, support, and leadership in carrying out mutually agreed-upon procedures and programs. To liaise with the Past Convener in filling Committee vacancies, including providing nominations for approval and administering Volunteer Documents and Committee Matrix materials. To work with the Assistant Badminton Professional and Director of Racquets to carry out the administrative functions of the Badminton Section. To attend Athletic Department and Racquets Department meetings as required. To coordinate and administer all aspects of league play, ladders, round robins, club championships, and tournaments. To work with the Club’s Facilities Department to ensure badminton courts and associated facilities are maintained to Club standards. To oversee the planning and delivery of social events and to attend and assist with Section social functions as required. To collaborate with the Director of Racquets to identify budget requirements and to be accountable for the management of program-related expenses, including completing regular cost analysis of badminton programs. To ensure that all badminton courts, storage areas, the Racquets Lounge, and administrative spaces are kept clean, organized, and maintained to standard. To maintain strong communication with other clubs and sport governing bodies to support member engagement, best practices, and program development. To review Committee minutes for accuracy, record keeping, production, and distribution requirements. To provide a written annual report to management outlining participation, programming outcomes, and other activities within the Badminton Section. To ensure that trophies and awards are ordered, engraved, maintained, and that all recognition boards or displays are kept up to date. To contribute to Granite News, website updates, and communication materials to promote badminton programs effectively. To foster and maintain positive working relationships among badminton staff, racquets colleagues, other departments, and all Members. To maintain current professional certification through participation in ongoing professional development, including First Aid and CPR. To assist as required with the promotion and support of Granite Gear operations. To be responsible for identifying Gold and Silver Crest recipients and providing names for the annual Recognition Awards Dinner. To work with the Director of Racquets to ensure safe facilities and a safe environment for members, staff, and guests. To know, understand, and enforce House Rules and make recommendations when change is appropriate. Other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications NCCP Level 2 certification (or equivalent) Excellent communication, public relations, and organizational skills Demonstrated leadership ability and a collaborative, member-focused approach Computer proficiency and familiarity with scheduling systems Excellent oral and written English Current First Aid / CPR certification Compensation The salary range for this position is $60, 000 - $160,000. This role is eligible for commissions based on terms and conditions.
