About the role:

Reporting to the Manager Prevention and Screening Clinical Services, the Genetic Counsellor is a health

professional with

specialized education, training and experience in genetic counseling.

The Genetics Counsellor provides counselling to individuals and families seeking information due to family history,

recent diagnosis or suspected diagnosis of a genetic condition. As part of a multidisciplinary team, the genetic

counsellor will provide expertise in clinical genetics and counsel and communicate with patients on matters of clinical

genetics.

Applicants must have the following qualifications:

* Masters of Science Degree in Genetic Counselling, or a regulated health professional with relevant experience and

an unrestricted membership with their respective Ontario regulatory college

* Recent work experience in genetic counselling (minimum of 2 years), however new graduates encouraged to

apply

* Canadian Board of Genetic Counselling (CBGC) is an asset.

* Excellent knowledge of clinical genetics as it applies to genetic counselling

* Strong interpersonal and administrative skills, including the ability to set priorities, establish timeframes and

organize resources

* Strong strategic, analytical and problem solving abilities

* Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in groups, one on one, and in writing

* Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary team, including community

partners

* Current knowledge of research processes and methodologies

* Demonstrated proficiency in a variety of computer applications (Meditech, Microsoft Office, SHIRE)

Salary Range: $44.670 to 57.900
