Elk Island Public Schools (EIPS) is one of the largest school divisions

Elk Island Public Schools is recruiting a full-time (1.0 FTE) Junior High Counsellor at Clover Bar Junior High. Clover Bar has two division programs supported by our counsellor: PLACE & Focus. Clover Bar also has an alternative division program Sport for Life and regular programming with student support needs provided by our counsellor.

Clover Bar Junior

High serves approximately 485 students in grades 7 to 9, with 23 teaching staff

and 11 support staff. The school is located in Sherwood Park, AB.

Clover Bar Junior High staff work hard to help

students become the best they can be, providing opportunities to be engaged in

their learning as well as involved in a variety of extracurricular activities

such as art, band, drama, construction, foods, team sports and social activities.

A master’s degree in counselling and registered or

provisional psychologist status is preferred. Consideration will be given to

applicants presently working on a master's in this area. A minimum of five

years of teaching experience, education in psychology or a related discipline

with a focus on counselling, and Violence Threat Risk Assessment Training

(VTRA) would be considered an asset.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Education degree
  • Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate
  • Effective organization and classroom management skills
  • Ability to create a classroom environment where students feel safe, supported, and challenged
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Experience or familiarity analyzing data and using data to inform decisions and/or instruction
  • Strong collaboration and teamwork skills
  • Growth mindset and ability to use feedback to improve practice
  • Relentless drive to set and achieve personal and professional goals
  • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training
