The Technical Support Specialist assists customers remotely in the installation and troubleshooting of S&C’s products. This position is for an individual with a technical background and strong analytical skills, preferably someone with field service experience troubleshooting S&C equipment. This role requires the ability to troubleshoot customers’ S&C equipment issues utilizing a variety of communication methods, as well as performing product training to customers and salesforce both on and offsite. Extensive training will be required, which includes working closely with senior-level engineers within the group to develop product knowledge and product history, and develop skills to become a product expert. Occasional visits to customer installation sites and substations will also be required.

Work Arrangement: On-site, 5 days a week.

Work Location: 2909 Plymouth Dr, Oakville, ON L6H 6G7

Travel Requirement: Occasional travel locally to customer sites for training.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced technical support for escalations from Field Service Engineers and Technicians.
  • Troubleshoot S&C equipment over the phone and via e-mail with customers while documenting in Salesforce.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify recurring customer issues and recommend areas for improvement or solutions.
  • Identify parts and pricing that require upgrading or replacing.
  • Read and interpret wiring diagrams.
  • Provide training on all S&C products of both current and past vintages.
  • Occasional travel to customer sites for training of S&C products.
  • Perform product training on and offsite.
  • Interface with sales, service and customer personnel to resolve customer issues, and to maintain or upgrade installed power conversion products. Process RMAs when required.

Minimum Requirements

  • Associate degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings and possess excellent mechanical skills.
  • Ability to interpret electrical drawings.
  • Ability to perform troubleshooting and product support as required.
  • Knowledge of project management is an asset.
  • S&C product knowledge is an asset.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Good interpersonal and presentation skills to work with team members at all levels across the organization.
  • Good problem-solving skills. Capable of embracing diversity and equity to ensure they contribute to a respectful and inclusive workplace.

Physical Effort : Normal or frequent minor physical effort required for the day-to-day activity in the workplace. May involve standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs and lifting/moving/using objects or equipment up to 20lbs
