Position: Economic Empowerment Liaison – Entrepreneurship and Workforce Development
Location: Edmonton, Alberta
Term: 12 Months (from job start date) – with a possibility of extension
(Full-time - 37.5 Hours Per Week)
Compensation: $32 - $34 / hour – based on experience

Position Summary
The Economic Empowerment Liaison will work as part of AHC’s Strategic Workforce Integration & Entrepreneurship Supports Program, advancing economic empowerment for immigrant women, youth, and under-represented and underserved groups. Facilitating the implementation of the new EMPOWER initiative, the Liaison designs and facilitates the delivery of tailored economic empowerment
supports and engagements that bridges individual potential with real-world opportunities in entrepreneurship, employment, and education.
Reporting to the Program Manager, the Liaison oversees outreach, coaching, mentorship, and experiential learning supports. The incumbent liaises with diverse stakeholders to build strategic partnerships and engages with participants to facilitate tailored pathways towards economic empowerment. The role also includes managing client data, tracking outcomes, supporting evaluation efforts, and managing a customized multipurpose digital platform for engagement.
Key Responsibilities
1. Planning:
In collaboration with the Program Manager and team:

Facilitate the design and rollout of the EMPOWER initiative

Develop outreach plans for key client groups (e.g., immigrant women, youth, aspiring entrepreneurs)
-
Create engagement pathways for entrepreneurship, employment and skills development, integrating coaching, mentoring, exposure events, workshops, and other individual supports
-
Create linkages to other AHC programs for wraparound services.
2. Implementation and Delivery:
a. Stakeholder Relations and Outreach

Identify and engage partners in entrepreneurship and workforce development
-
Represent AHC at community events and forums
-
Facilitate stakeholder MOUs and cross-program referrals
b. Individualized Supports
-
Conduct intake and needs assessments
-
Facilitate the delivery of business counseling, coaching, referrals, and mentorship coordination
-
Guide clients through employment and entrepreneurship pathways
c. Group Supports – Workshops and Events
-
Facilitate the delivery of workshops on entrepreneurship, job readiness, and financial literacy
-
Collaborate with experts to develop training materials
-
Organize experiential learning and peer-led sessions
d. Engagement and Collaboration
-
Coordinate with AHC teams for integrated service delivery
-
Share insights and support logistical planning
e. Management of Digital Engagement Platforms
-
Manage ActionBiz portal and digital outreach
-
Collaborate with IT and communications to enhance platform use
f. Monitoring and Evaluation
- Track outcomes, analyze feedback and contribute to reporting and knowledge sharing
g. Grant and Contract Administration
-
Support grant writing, contract management, and procurement processes.
3. Administration:

Maintain accurate records in AHC databases
-
Assist with reporting, budgeting, and third-party engagement coordination
-
Support proposal development and perform related duties as needed.
Required Qualifications, Experience and Competencies:
Qualifications and experience
-
Education & Experience in relevant field: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Social Sciences (Education, Career Development, Community Development or related field) – 2+ years experience delivering community-based employment, entrepreneurship, or newcomer integration programming - experience in mentoring, youth development required.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills: Effective communication, active listening, and the ability to build rapport with diverse individuals.
-
Facilitation and group management skills: Ability to facilitate and guide discussions, manage group dynamics, and create a positive learning environment. Strong facilitation, coaching, and engagement skills across diverse populations.

Strong organizational and time management skills: Managing multiple tasks, prioritizing responsibilities, and meeting deadlines. Strong skills in planning, organizing, and delivering tailored workshops, mentorship programs, and practical exposure opportunities.

Empathy and understanding: Ability to connect with participants and understand their needs. Experience working with newcomer populations, women, youth, and racialized communities.

Partnership and Collaborations: Experience in building and maintenance of formal partnerships and stakeholders’ relations with employers, entrepreneurs, educational institutions, and community organizations. Strong stakeholder engagement skills.

Digital Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office suites, MS 365 applications, Google/cloud-based applications, and online/virtual learning management systems.

Outreach: Proven ability to conduct effective outreach and recruitment.

Reporting: Experience preparing evidence-based reports for stakeholders and funders.
Working Conditions

37.5 hours per work – some evening and weekend work may be required.
-
Office Environment - In-person (occasional remote/virtual work).
-
Police Information Check including vulnerable sector search within six (6) months.
-
Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean driver’s abstract and a reliable vehicle required, as fair amount of travel is required to various locations in the greater Edmonton region.
