HR COORDINATOR – RECRUITMENT & PAYROLL (Existing vacancy)
Grade 5 – Starting Range $55,000 - $60,000

ABOUT THE ROLE We are looking for a people-focused, detail-oriented HR professional who can balance relationship-driven recruitment with smooth, accurate HR administration. Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, the HR Coordinator – Recruitment & Payroll will support full-cycle recruitment, weekly payroll processing, onboarding, HR administration, health and safety coordination, and day-to-day employee questions.
This role is well suited to someone who can draft a job posting, screen candidates, review payroll details, and keep confidential information accurate, organized, and handled with care. Supporting safe work practices, maintaining health and safety documentation, and assisting with related training and committee activities are also important parts of the role.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Leads full-cycle recruitment for assigned roles, including creating engaging job postings, sourcing candidates, screening applications, coordinating and conducting interviews, supporting selection decisions, preparing offers, and helping new hires get off to a strong start. Supports accurate weekly payroll processing by reviewing employee information, preparing payroll-related changes, responding to routine payroll questions, and acting as backup to the Payroll & Wellness Manager. Supports safe work practices, maintains health and safety records, and assists with health and safety administration and coordination. Keeps HR documentation organized and up to date, including employee records, policies, organizational charts, training records, and other confidential HR files. Responds to employee and candidate inquiries with professionalism, accuracy, discretion, and a helpful sense of urgency. Ensures HR and payroll activities adhere to the Employment Standards Act and all relevant legislation in Ontario.
QUALIFICATIONS
Degree or Diploma in Human Resources, Human Resources Management, or a related HR-focused program is required. At least 2 years’ experience in a similar HR role; previous payroll or accounting experience is required. Comfort switching between relationship-focused recruiting work and detail-focused payroll administration. Curiosity, follow-through, and the confidence to ask good questions when accuracy matters. Thorough knowledge of ESA and employment legislation as it relates to HR in Ontario. Strong attention to detail, communication and organizational skills. Ability to maintain discretion and handle sensitive information. Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite. Possession of a valid driver’s license, current insurance, and reliable access to a vehicle is required, as travel to multiple locations may be necessary.
