Your new role
You will be responsible for the development and implementation of mine systems for our Windfall project, currently in the pre-construction phase. The objective is to ensure the deployment of various technologies such as tele-remote operation, automation, remote control center, real-time and short interval control (SIC), as well as data capture and analysis.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Contributing to the development of an operational technology plan covering all necessary aspects for successful site operation.
- Participating in the design, construction, deployment, and commissioning of the integrated operations and control room.
- Developing a mapping of operational and control systems related to mine technologies, particularly tele-remote operation and automation.
- Coordinating implementation and execution activities with stakeholders, vendors, and contractors.
- Designing architecture to enable integration of technological solutions and the remote control room.
- Being responsible for quality control and ultimately acting as the signatory for User Acceptance Tests (UATs).
This role will require interaction with numerous stakeholders to define the project's integrated operational strategies. As such, you will need to:
- Work with international experts to adopt the best practices used across Gold Fields.
- Collaborate with the global asset optimization team to ensure the adoption of continuous improvement best practices.
- Work with equipment manufacturers and vendors to integrate operational technologies into the mining site.
- Participate, alongside the commissioning team, in defining the ramp-up approach to meet the project’s objectives.
What you need to succeed
- Over 15 years of experience in mining operations and project management
- Significant experience in the implementation of mining operational technologies, particularly in automation (loading, drilling, etc.) and control room systems
- University degree in a relevant field (training in project management is a strong asset)
- Member in good standing of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ)
- Bilingual (ability to communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders in both French and English)
- Strong project management skills (scope definition, budget and schedule development)
- Proven leadership to motivate, guide, and continuously align diverse teams
- Strong collaboration skills to work effectively across various functions and areas
- Solid understanding of technology and integration of IT/OT systems
