About the role
Tourmaline Oil Corp. is a senior Canadian crude oil and natural gas exploration and production company.
We are focused on long-term growth through an aggressive exploration, development, and acquisition
program in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin.
We are seeking an Exploitation / Production Engineering Intern Student to join our Calgary office. This is
a term position beginning in May 2026 and running for approximately sixteen months.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate will be responsible for or assist with the following duties but not be limited to:
- Monitoring well production rates and managing regular well reviews to optimize production.
- Planning and providing engineering execution support for workovers.
o Conducting associated failure analysis investigations and work with relevant
stakeholders to optimize artificial lift runtime.
- Improving base production and facilities performance, in partnership with geology, operations
and facilities staff.
o Conducting engineering projects to analyze opportunities to improve area performance.
- Developing scoping documents for new facility projects and tie-ins for new development.
- Planning and providing engineering execution support for new completions and stimulations for
new wells.
- Preparing hydraulic fracturing subsurface integrity reviews.
- Conduct accruals and forecast capital and production for area as required.
- Raise authorization for expenditures (AFEs).
- Assistance with contractor and service supplier evaluations and selection.
- Communicate with partner companies on projects as required within area of responsibility.
- Travel to field operations for site visits and meetings.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Completing third or fourth year of an engineering degree program (chemical, mechanical, Energy,
and Petroleum/Oil & Gas disciplines preferred).
- Ability to think strategically and logically.
- Detail oriented.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Positive and upbeat attitude.
- Well-spoken and professional.
- Takes pride and ownership in their work.
- Proactive and self-motivated.
- Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
