The project: The Site Inspector / Field Representative provides on‑site support during the construction phase of major infrastructure or built‑environment projects. The role is responsible for monitoring construction activities, verifying compliance with the contract documents, and providing reliable site‑based reporting to the wider project team. Working under the direction of the Project Leader / Project Manager and Contract Administrator, the Site Inspector acts as the “eyes and ears” of the consultant team on site, supporting quality assurance, issue identification, and effective communication between site and project controls teams.

- Observe and report unsafe conditions, incidents, or behaviours to the appropriate parties.

Key responsibilities:
- Undertake regular site visits to observe construction progress and activities.
- Verify that works generally comply with the contract documents, approved drawings, specifications and design management plan.
- Identify and record defects, non‑conformances, or deviations from the contract.
- Maintain daily site diaries, inspection reports, and photographic records.
- Track and follow up on site issues, actions, and corrective works.
- Attend site meetings as required and provide factual input.
- Support the Contract Administrator with site‑based information relating to RFIs, change, or claims.
- Assist with inspections associated with key milestones, testing, commissioning, and close‑out.
You’ll need to have:
- Experience undertaking site inspection or field representative duties on construction or infrastructure projects.
- Good understanding of construction practices, drawings, and specifications.
- Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to produce clear, factual, and well‑structured site reports.
- Confidence working independently on site while maintaining close coordination with the project team.
- Professional communication skills and the ability to manage site relationships effectively.
You’ll also have :
- Diploma or degree in construction management, engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience working on large or complex projects within regulated or public‑sector environments.
- Familiarity with formal reporting, document control, and quality processes.
- Awareness of the limits of the site inspection role and the distinction between observation and supervision.
- Willingness to work flexibly in response to site and programme requirements.
Note: The estimated salary for this position is 100,000-140,000 CAD. Starting salary may vary based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, skills and qualifications.
