Position Description

The Department of Neurophysiology at The Hospital for Sick Children is seeking a Non-Registered Neurophysiology Technologist on a one-year temporary assignment to join our team

Here's What You'll Get To Do:

  • The Non-Registered Neurophysiology Technologist will provide compassionate care for children (and their families) while performing routine Electroencephalography (EEG) procedures.
  • This involves learning how to properly obtain a current clinical neurological history from patients, educating the patient/family about the procedure, preparing the patient for the procedure, performing the procedure utilizing specialized computer and/or video/digital equipment, producing a detailed technical report and consulting with other health care professionals.
  • The Non-Registered Neurophysiology Technologist will be trained to operate the neurodiagnostic equipment to aid in the patient's care, as well as maintaining the equipment in good working condition, which includes performing routine testing and troubleshooting.
  • In addition, this position may require working flexible hours in order to receive didactic teaching in preparation for registration and certification.

Here's What You'll Need:

  • Graduate from a CBRET-registered Neurophysiology program
  • Working towards the ability to write part 1 of Canadian Board of Registered Electrophysiology Technologists (CBRET) exams OR in process or willing to attain CBRET registration within 2 years of post-hire
  • Membership with the Canadian Association of Electro neurophysiology Technologists (CAET). **or willing to obtain within 6 months of hire.
  • Proof of current BCLS certificate. **or obtain within 6 months of hire.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively, efficiently and accurately in a fast-paced environment in stressful situations to meet pediatric patient care needs.
  • Effective computer skills.
  • You are patient and family-care oriented, with the ability to work successfully with diversity and appreciate that people with different opinions, background and characteristics bring richness to the challenge or the situation at hand.
  • Demonstrates commitment and actions in advancing equity, diversity and inclusion objectives

Employment Type:

One year PT contract with modified benefits (dental and health) 0.6 FTE
