Position Summary

Using a strong client service approach, the Regional Manager, Medical Staff Retention and Recruitment is responsible for the strategic development, implementation and management of NH’s recruitment programs pertaining to members of the medical staff (i.e. physicians, nurse practitioners, midwives, and dentists), for Northern Health.

This position works with the Medical Leaders and Medical Staff in each Health Service Delivery Area (HSDA) as well as the corporate leaders to identify needs and to develop recruitment strategies and resources. The Manager develops and manages service relationships through consultations and proactive planning with clients; continuously evaluates recruitment processes and procedures and implements improvement initiatives. In collaboration with the Regional Manager, Recruitment HR, develops and implements a strategy for medical staff and hard to recruit positions. Identifies recruitment and workforce turnover trends to ensure medical staff workforce needs are anticipated and recruitment activities are correctly targeted. Establishes close and productive working relationships with the community, schools, colleges, universities and professional associations.

Starting salary will be approximately from $108,147 to $135,184 and will be based on education, training, experience, and salaries of similar positions.

Qualifications
  • Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management or a related discipline;

  • Seven (7) to ten (10) years’ retention and recruitment experience in a large, complex, professional environment within the context of provincial agreements, processes, programs and legislation, and at least three (3) years of management experience;

  • Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of current employment and labour acts and regulations and applicable collective agreements.

  • Knowledge of recruitment and retention best practices.

  • Knowledge of current health care issues and trends.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with all levels of the organization.

  • Ability to foster effective working relationships, both internal and external, at all levels.

  • Ability to lead a strategic based recruitment and retention service and stay client focused at the same time.

  • Ability to lead change and manage conflict.

  • Ability to provide leadership, guidance and direction to others including managers and staff.

  • Ability to manage and supervise others.

  • Effective promotional and marketing skills.

  • Ability to lead problem solving towards creative solutions for complex issues.

  • Ability to anticipate and respond to changing priorities or unforeseen opportunities.

  • Ability to make fair and consistent decisions.

  • Ability to work effectively, both independently and as part of a team.

  • Ability to organize and prioritize work and balance multiple activities concurrently.

  • Ability to operate related equipment including computer software applications.
