Job Description

SGP Purchasing Network, a division of Extendicare, is a group purchasing organization committed to providing unmatched customer service, comprehensive network support, and innovative supply chain solutions to the Senior Care Market. Defined by our customized and focused programs and services, SGP understands our partners business and we are dedicated to ensuring optimum network performance for our Partner’s procurement needs.

This position will be based at our Head Office in Markham, Ontario. Extendicare offers a hybrid working environment.

Key responsibilities include

  • Manage a portfolio of contracts and product categories as assigned, ensuring effective category management and delivery of KPIs, including cost savings and market share growth
  • Market Analysis, conduct thorough market research and analysis to identify trends, opportunities and potential risks that may impact the category, using data to inform decision-making
  • Source products, research options, review spend data and perform market research to negotiate best possible terms and conditions to achieve department’s strategic goals and manage risks
  • Manage bids documents like RFP, RFQ and RFI and prepare bid summaries to analyze RFx’s;
  • Working with operations and key stakeholders, prepare contract packages including, but not limited to, term sheets, specification sheets, product samples, cost analysis, business cases and arrange for product trial and testing as required;
  • Develop, establish and maintain strong vendor relationships with strategic key vendors for assigned categories;
  • Manage ongoing vendor negotiations and cost reduction strategies to optimize contract value;
  • Manage contract compliance, analyze data and market trends for assigned categories to determine potential areas for future improvement;
  • Continuously assess to improve the supply base structure and develop alternate sources of supply to leverage total spend across the organization and SGP Membership;
  • Schedule and conduct vendor business reviews, take minutes and record action items for execution
  • Manage contract administration process which includes new vendor system set up, and updates to website, contract tracker, databases and communication materials
  • Collaborate and coordinate with vendors to ensure collection of volume incentives and deliverables are completed in a timely manner as contracted and in accordance to standard operating procedures;
  • Develop and analyze customer satisfaction surveys on owned categories as requested;
  • Support Extendicare operations and SGP members to ensure products, services and programs are clearly defined and any issues are resolved on a timely basis;
  • Lead Extendicare capital and projects as assigned;
  • Support SGP marketing program for vendors managed as needed;
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities, as required.

What we are looking for:

  • Completion of a University Degree or College Program with emphasis on business or procurement or accounting.
  • 3-5 years of experience managing contracts life cycle or categories for indirect spend, preferably in the healthcare industry. Experience in drafting vendor contracts.
  • Experience managing contract categories for Clinical (supplies, equipment, services) and IT Categories will be considered an asset
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with internal/external stakeholders and vendors to optimize contract value adds and contract performance
  • Must be Excel proficient in creating spend reports from scratch for data analysis
  • With excellent customer service orientation, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
