WHAT’S THE TEAM LIKE
The Capital Construction YYC AeroNex team is a newly formed group united by a shared ambition to build something meaningful from the ground up. It is a collaborative, forward-looking environment where expertise, trust, and thoughtful decision making come together to support a bold vision for aviation innovation and long-term growth. WHAT ARE SOME OF THE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee construction, design estimation activities and project management activities across YYC AeroNex infrastructure projects, aligning deliverables with the long-term vision for the YYC AeroNex ecosystem.
- Oversee major capital developments such as maintenance facilities, test cells, aviation training facilities, cargo logistic warehouses, and other strategic real estate and operational assets (as defined within YYC AeroNex scope).
- Manage and coordinate project planning, design, construction, installation, testing, commissioning, and turnover activities for Aurone development sites.
- Direct and validate all estimating activities, including cost modeling, preliminary estimates, detailed costing, and value engineering proposals.
- Lead negotiations with contractors, consultants, suppliers, and development partners.
- Oversee procurement documentation, contracts, technical specifications, design packages, and construction schedules.
- Apply formal project management methodologies and reporting practices across all YYC AeroNex initiatives.
- Ensure quality assurance standards are met or exceeded; develop alternative plans or value engineered solutions where appropriate.
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO BRING

- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, Project Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- A recognized technical or professional designation (e.g., P.Eng., CET, P.Tech, PMP, AAA, or equivalent) is required.
- 8 – 10 years’ experience in construction management or project management with proven experience in kick starting capital projects from the ground to operations.
- Demonstrated experience in estimating and construction cost planning.
- Minimum 3–5 years of people leadership experience, including oversight of technical professionals.
- Operational management and execution/implementation of plans, programs, projects, and team activities.
- Financial acumen and budget management expertise.
- Strong leadership, team management, and interpersonal skills.
- Advanced project management capabilities with deep knowledge of PM methodologies.
- High financial acumen and ability to manage complex capital budgets.
- Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision making abilities.
WHAT ADDITIONAL SKILLS ARE AN ASSET
- Bilingual in English and French
- Graduate education (MBA, MEng) considered an asset; extensive leadership experience may substitute for advanced degrees.
- Professional certifications (Lean Six Sigma, Change Management, Leadership programs) are valued.
