Position Overview:
The Journeyperson Mechanic is responsible for the service tasks on product line ranging from construction tools, small engine equipment such as compaction equipment, pumps to compact construction equipment (e.g. Mini excavators and skid steers,) and Aerial Work Platform equipment.
Job Description:
Key Responsibility Areas:
Service Troubleshooting and Repairs:
- Performs quality repairs to fleet of equipment
- Solves problems from diagnosis to correction
- Co-ordinates product repairs
Customer Service:
- Interfaces with customers in the field on service calls in a courteous, business-like manner
- Participates in achieving customer satisfaction and product quality
Administrative Functions:
- Works closely with their peers in the shop
- Keeps paperwork current to insure thorough action on all transactions
Competencies:
- Proficient reading skills
- Basic knowledge of computer applications
- Good understanding of electrical and hydraulic systems
- Thorough knowledge of gasoline and diesel engine electronic management systems
Experience:
- Must possess the technical knowledge to perform service tasks on our product line ranging from construction tools, small engine equipment such as compaction equipment, pumps to compact construction equipment (e.g. Mini excavators and skid steers,) aerial work platform equipment as well as knowledge of diesel generators 8 KW to 200 KW
Performance Criteria:
- Possesses excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting skills and abilities
- Capable of working with minimal supervision
- Committed to continuous learning
- Exhibits professional work behaviours
Physical requirements:
- Due to physical nature of the work, a requirement of the job is to be considered fit for work.
- Employee may be required to undergo a “fitness to work” assessment. These are most often done to determine medical fitness after an illness or injury, but may sometimes be completed after employment has been offered, as requested by the employer periodically, or as a condition of a job transfer.
Work Environment:
- Fast-paced, work under pressure, tight deadlines, repetitive tasks, handling heavy loads, physically demanding, manual dexterity, attention to detail, hand-eye co-ordination, ability to distinguish between colors, standing for extended periods, bending, crouching, kneeling
- Capable of working evening, night shifts as well as performing after hours service calls, weekends inclusive
